It’s the only ideology that thinks Charlie Kirk is important enough to assassinate. To the left he’s an annoyance but there are much bigger Charlie Kirks than Charlie Kirk. TPUSA is so far down the list of things creating fascism. To liberals he’s apparently baby Jesus. To republicans he’s an asset. Only right-wing accelerationists have a motive because they’re the only freaks who shoot up anything and anyone thinking it will spark a civil war. He makes a good sacrificial lamb if your goal is to make right-wingers rabidly homicidal or invite a fascist crackdown, but for everyone else he’s just a generic influencer and punching bag.

Yeah the last time someone on the left did some adventurism in the US, it was attempting to take out the GOP majority whip. Actual high-value target.

I had him grouped in the meme-tier with crowder and tim pool, but after seeing all this I think he was actually a level or two above them. Probably above Shapiro but below, say, Tucker Carlson; notably Shapiro is on the decline and Kirk was apparently on the ascent.

But yeah I think most of the left was on the same page, just thinking of him as an unremarkable media bigot who looked slightly uncanny.

If it had been Dave Rubin or some twitch streamer or that antisemitic Times Square Elmo they’d have probably reacted the same. The right-wing response to his death seems like it’s more opportunistic than genuine, while the liberal response is the kind of shit they say about any generic republican who dies. It’s hard to judge the staying power in the moment, especially if the media downplays the seemingly fascist shooter and limits the news cycles this makes.

He was a white house insider but I don’t know what degree of influence he actually had there because he himself was just a generic meat puppet for his billionaire funders. As a media figure I more or less forgot he existed until last week when I saw a DSA post about his tour. As far as I know there wasn’t even going to be a counter-protest, just an alternative event which would have drawn a larger crowd. The cultural relevancy of those is stuck in the 2010s and now we have terms like “debate pervert” to stereotype his brand of Guy. Even the memes about him were stuck in 2018 and limited to small face+diaper. I’d consider him more relevant than Dave Rubin or Stephen Crowder, but a C-tier influencer compared to Ben Shapiro/Tucker Carlson/Alex Jones/Joe Rogan/streamers. What little I saw of his media presence anymore felt like decade-old boomer slop.

Even between those A-tier influencers, none of them seem individually important enough for a leftist to target. Shapiro is on the decline, Tucker is deplatformed, Alex Jones is a donkey of the week for one of my favourite podcasts, and their streamers keep getting outed as paedophiles. Any other culture warrior name I can think of is just some dipshit who will be replaced tomorrow by another dipshit saying the same things they’ve been saying since the 1930s.

TPUSA’s grift has always been convincing boomers that he represents zoomers. On my fairly right-wing campus the only times I saw them were a tiny booth with like three cheems goobers dressed like 50 year-old libertarians. They sat there with buttons that said “socialism sucks” that nobody took, nobody bothered protesting them, and the booth had less traffic than any of the student club booths or the one that sells overpriced posters.

Absolutely. It has the hallmark of fascist infighting. It would be like if BadEmpanada or Shaun or any other Breadtuber that’s not Contra got assassinated. And even for Contra, I would mostly think she would be a target for being a high profile trans woman rather than a fascist specifically targeting her for her political beliefs as in the fascist shooter goggled “famous transgender women” and just picked her because she’s on the list.

That’s not what a groyper is. Groypers are a specific online political group. They’re (originally) followers of Nick Fuentes, although there are some splinter groups now that still claim the label but disown Fuentes (mostly for being from a Hispanic family or whatever).

Just saw a video of Utah’s governer talking about he was praying that shooter was from another state or another country because he wanted to be able to say “We don’t do that here”.

Guy gets shot in your state and your first thought is, “I hope this doesn’t reflect badly on the church”. That’d be one thing if you kept that to yourself. But do go and admit that on television? Damn. Never change Mormons. classic

It’s funny because Kirk hated MLK

“MLK was awful,” Kirk said. “He’s not a good person. He said one good thing he actually didn’t believe.”

“I have a very, very radical view on this, but I can defend it, and I’ve thought about it,” Kirk said at America Fest. “We made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s.”

Blake is an apparent reference to Blake Neff, a producer of The Charlie Kirk Show. In 2020, Neff resigned from his job at Fox News as Tucker Carlson’s top writer after CNN revealed he had been making racist posts under a pseudonym. Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott called Neff’s posts “abhorrent.”

His producer was too racist even for Fox News lmao[1]

Call coming from inside the house!

What’s funny is you can’t really become a leftist without understanding enough theory to realize Propaganda of the Deed is a dead end. I don’t know if I’d be bold enough to call it counter revolutionary but for a revolutionary in the modern age it should not be undertaken. This is not 1878, you can’t just shoot a mine boss, and it’s not like we’re living in a global communist utopia because that shit works. It didn’t.

So basically when these murderjunkies pop off the odds of them actually being a leftist are slim to none. You might have a person who is dabbling in leftism or festoons themselves in hammers and sickles but that’s just some bandwagoning, really. You might have a radical liberal who is radicalized along a conventionally “left” vector like gay rights or abortion access but those aren’t really “left” opinions.

Which leaves us with the elephant in the room: the right wing stochastic terror machine and its apparatchiks.

I think Jenkins means if assassinating random capitalists in a disorganized fashion was all that was needed to establish global communist utopia, we would have seen it, and that therefore leftists know this is a failed avenue, and that’s why its almost always a rightoid doing these killings, because they don’t have the same base knowledge/ analysis of material reality

Which is what makes it no longer a viable tactic to build a revolution.

Yeah there might occasionally be an ultraleftist that attacks state infrastructure or whatever but assasinations haven’t been in the US left’s playbook for over a hundred years now. Assassination and stochastic terrorism are commonly used tools of the right though especially here in the US. It’s no surprise they’re being weaponized against rightists especially as their coalition fragments.

It got buried but Elias Rodriguez, member of the PSL, did shoot 2 Israeli diplomats not too long ago. Considering how much of a fringe the left occupies in America, that’s not nothing.

This feels a little like post hoc rationalization. I mean, I don’t exactly disagree with you, but Charlie boy getting killed is a good thing. God knows a lot of good people wanted him dead. I agree it’s better if it does indeed turn out to have been CHUD on CHUD violence, but I wouldn’t have disavowed a comrade either.

I don’t know where it is anymore but in a thread I was just looking at someone asked that as well and they posted an nbc article corroborating that journalists tweet, if that helps

It was probably elsewhere in this thread honestly, I have so many tabs open I’m completely lost lol

I tried to find any other sources that corroborate that tweet, but I couldn’t and journalists like Klippenstein are also asking that in the replies. Of course It would 100% not surprise me if he was revealed to be a groyper, but on the other hand considering how incoherent some of these kids’ ideologies are these days, could it be like luigi-dance(I think he had some odd stuff with like rationalism and effective altruism(?)) who also was beyond internet-pilled from the engraved bullets? I could be wrong here but for some reason I had that remembered together when reading up about him).

Yes, I’d be sceptical about this until we get it confirmed by a better source. Other articles claim that neighbours described him as left-leaning, but others also say there are photos of what may be him wearing a groyper inspired Halloween costume. Plenty of people seem to think he was ideologically incoherent.

Don’t like that fascists are stealing our jokes when they kill each other. I don’t mind them killing each other, but stay out of our joke pile.

Assuming that what is posted here is accurate. At this point I don’t know. But I do support just assuming the guy is a nazi and absolutely refusing any evidence otherwise when talking to the right.

I think honesty is one of the most important virtues of communism (“Communists disdain to conceal their views”) but that doesn’t mean you can’t fuck with these reactionaries by pushing hard on their flimsy epistemology and motivated reasoning. I’d just like to suggest that it is done by explaining that their shitty evidence is circumstantial or ambiguously proving the opposite of their claim.
