This might be a simplistic take, but for me at least the main issue with western art at this point is that it is poisoned by neoliberalism, not even liberalism. And liberals don't have a robust understanding of their own worldview, like they're lying to themselves, or that their worldview is one of convenience which in turn reflects in their art.
