If the cheese and meat is good, then this is a really nice dinner. Add a simple salad to that and its perfect.

Fun fact: consuming coca leaves (from which cocaine is made) is legal in some Latin American countries. It helps with nausea.

It should be legal everywhere. It’s only dangerous in refined form. Nobody would snort pure caffeine cause you would literally just die. But in its natural concentration it’s not that harmful and can even have beneficial effects in moderation. Coca leaves are the same way honestly.

Me SO and I Cook fairly often and maybe once every year or two we will go through a spurt where we primarily only eat one thing. We don’t really discuss it, just naturally we get in a rutt where we both don’t want to cook and gravitate to who ever comes up with the best boy/girl dinner and lock in on that. Instead of dinner it becomes whatever cute nick name we give it. Kind of like how people call chipotle slopbowls we had a spinich lunch meat salad we just called turkey bowl.

We ate only ham on bread with swiss for nearly a month, charcuterie for a few weeks, a lunch meat spinach salad with olive garden dressing for nearly a month. Then we get bored or it or we start feeling like we need actual nutrition.

Its weird because we normally enjoy cooking and making nice food that takes time and effort, then out of no where its like your brain breaks and you just want the least ingredients to be considered a meal.

My sister-in-law cooks like that. She’ll make one main course (and TBF it’s delicious) but absolutely nothing else – no side dishes, no salad, not even anything to drink.

I mean, if it was hand battered and fried and the mac wasn’t kraft but actually put together, then it’s a pretty nice meal. Add some vegetables.

I’d guess the breading was hand done. Bit uneven thickness. Mac sauce looks just about perfect.

Assumed this was Annie’s Mac and Cheese from the color and some random frozen chicken tenders from Costco at first, but the breading looks homemade.

      Nice weeknight meal!

That breaded fried… meat? chimken? something?- looks fantastic actually, that came out really good. This plate should be really tasty! I would personally at minimum add some mud/swamp native veggies like probably some yellow/white onion finely chopped slowly glazed? I get all my veggies from dinner and sadly, this plate will not supply me with my 200g minimum.

I hate when I see a video going “here is my go-to lazy meal for when I’m totally beat” and the first thing they do is start chopping an onion.

A lazy meal is a bag of beige crap from the freezer, dumped into an oven tray and left for 20 minutes on gas mark 8. If it’s more effort than that, you can stick it.

I buy frozen chopped onions and pepper and onion mix because I fucking hate chopping. Admittedly, the peppers aren’t as good vs fresh, but I will deal with subpar peppers to not have to chop anything. I will say, one annoying thing is fewer and fewer grocery stores stock frozen chopped onions, likely due to lower margins because they are usually dirt cheap, like $1/ bag.

I grew up with parents who loved to cook and grow their own vegetables - I was always cooking with them. When I moved into an engineering dormitory, I was shocked to learn that absolutely no ~20 y/o around me knew how to cook. Seeing a picture of this plate brought me back - everybody made crap like this.

Also, once I saw a dude trying to boil a whole cheese (his parents were mega-wealthy, and he had never cooked once in his life).

I don’t eat cheese myself, so I can’t say specifically which one. I came into the common kitchen one day, and he was just boiling a big chunky slice (like from a cheese wheel). His reason was that he thought it would ‘soften it up’.

He was a great engineer but an incredibly odd fellow. His entire room was also just hip-height stacks of old tech, laptops, books and boardgames, with only a shallow walking path between his bed, desk and bathroom.

Honestly, thats kinda sound logic. Cheese melt but would mix with water and water would also provide very uniform heating. As an engineer, I would for sure try it out as a possible solution.

I’ve never even imagined boiling cheese before. The closest I’ve come is throwing parmesan rinds into a tomato sauce, but you take the rinds out before eating it.

“Boil a whole cheese”!!?? To what end? Like a craft single, a 1 lb block of sharp Tillamook cheddar, a 20 kg wheel of parm?

Same here, I grew up around a farm so I’m not like a great chef, but I know how to put a meal together. One time I saw someone attempt to make onion soup by just boiling an onion in a pot.

I have a theory that they only see cooking in video games, where you throw the ingredients into a cauldron or whatever and the meal comes out so they think that’s how it works lol.

My parents were proto-hippies (went to college in the '50s) who listened to The Kingston Trio and baked their own bread and such. We almost never ate out or ate packaged food. One year I went to summer camp and for breakfast they made real stuff like eggs and pancakes and bacon but also had those little boxes of sugary cereals on the tables. I pigged out on the cereal while everybody else ate the real food, since their parents never ever made shit like that for them.
