This is because many other types of extinguishers will either be ineffective or could even make this type of fire worse.

    1. WTF, people should be made more aware of this, but also
    2. The only fire I have ever needed to put out was a cooking oil fire, and my type A B C extinguisher made very quick work of it (as well as a completely uncleanable mess).
    3. Given 1 and 2, I have no idea whether I should replace the fire extinguisher in my kitchen with one that is class K.
