“Get everyone you know, and everyone you don’t know, drag them to register to vote,” said Elon Musk at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. “If they don’t, this will be the last election. That’s my prediction.”

“If they don’t, this will be the last election. That’s my prediction.”

As always, projection, projection, projection. Project 2025 says this is literally their goal.

      projection

I dont think people use this term accurately, and it’s thrown around pretty often.

In my opinion, musk isn’t projecting, hes just a deliberate propogandist. He doesn’t believe what he’s saying, honestly he knows it’s a total BS lie. He’s just saying it to energize and sway the cult of dumb-dumbs, many of which will lap it up like hungry puppies.

Projection has a more specific definition which includes denial and actively believing in what you’re projecting. Musk is consciously lying and knows it.

      Projection

Trump later invited Musk on stage. The X owner walked on wearing a black blazer over a shirt saying “Occupy Mars” and a black MAGA hat. “As you can see, I’m not just MAGA,” said Musk. “I’m dark MAGA.” Dark MAGA is a memecoin, a type of cryptocurrency inspired by online trends. The valuation of Dark MAGA soared right around the time that Musk spoke.

That’s so grifty. So overtly grifty that it’s approaching “hello fellow kids” levels of transparency. Up there with Jordan Peterson and Russell Brand praying together. It’s just strange and funny to see these grifters all clumping together like this.

    Now it makes sense.

Also, I am really enjoying their new, desperate voter registration drive. I think they figured out that a bunch of January 6th insurrectionists didn’t even bother voting.

There’s no apparent successor and there hasn’t been any attempt by Trump to nudge anyone towards that (he doesn’t give a shit about a post-Trump lanscape), but a half dozen people would attempt to claim it as their own, so if MAGA does survive it’d probably be really messy for a while.

Normally we use conventions for this kind of thing but they’d be competing against traditional Republicans in that space, so I’m expecting to see MGT and DJT and Boebert and a bunch of others just try to pull each other’s hair out, like an obscenely wealthy grandparent that had no will and no clear next of kin.

The heirarchal structure is basically Donald so the risk of the entire collective decapitating itself is pretty high

The thing about that is that it’d require cohesion and unity across all Republicans, and it seems like Trump himself is the only one seemingly able to pull this off.

The Whigs tore themselves apart in similar manner and all it’d take is a third of Republicans to back some group of MAGA (or rebranded) politicians who decide to stay on the ballot as third party. There are already multiple factions under the ‘R’ namesake and it’d just take a little pull in opposite directions. They’re a stubborn bunch

This is kinda a natural result of authoritarian structures going back millennia. It’s a big king of the hill game, because nobody up top is really in it for the movement, they’re in it for themselves.

I would point to the old monarchies of Europe as an excellent example of this all playing out though, with a huge number of individual data points to work with.

Avoiding this whole mess is one of the primary purposes of democratic forms of government.

I think Elon Musk is worried about his Tesla stock. He knows Democrats will pave the way for EV cars, but Republicans will and have already put up roadblocks to EVs. By joining their side, he makes it harder for Republicans to paint EVs as “a democrat thing.” Even Trump is like “I guess I have to support EVs now, because Elon Musk supports me.”

I bet that is a significant reason he has cozied up to the Republican side in recent years.

Looking at the Cybertruck, I think his plan is simply to destroy EVs. Same thing as Twitter.

Both companies are/were evaluated way higher than what they are worth and purchased with loans that are completely insecure, but costing very real interest.

It also looks as if Elon is doing a little totally legal “asset stripping” of the goodwill by paying out huge options to himself before the companies eventually go bust. I would not be surprised if the Saudis or other co-investors are footing the interest on the loans in the meantime. It’s a small price to pay to get rid of those companies obstructing their business.
