Someone ripped the front cover off so idk what the title is. It’s going straight into a recycling bin, the paper deserves better. And of course the “romance” is between a minor and a legal adult.

It is a service to the neighborhood to clear this and christian nationalist stuff out of the little free libraries for pulping periodically.

I find everything that’s so to the point so disgusting. I like jiu jitsu, right? I can’t imagine writing fiction about jiu jitsu. I’m a jiu jitsu author writing jiu jitsu romance like my interests are SEO motivated?? Am I supposed to do that shit?

When I do communist propaganda I’m never really doing it directly. I satirize capitalism. Guy goes to magic college and struggles to afford tuition so he starts helping pirates smuggle drugs to make ends meet. Person from a rival communist state thinks it’s hilarious that he has to pay for school at all, “but don’t they benefit from people knowing magic? Are they stupid?”

Guy from a DnD world decides to become a warlock patron letting magical dieties gamble on his warlocks. Obviously he’s a piece of shit but turning the magical realm into a financialized ponzy scheme looks just like the '08 financial collapse because he’s using CSOs (collateralized soul obligations).

Is it just a preference? Maybe I could do woman falls in love with DPRK soldier after they show solidarity with workers around the world and the twist is that she’s got massive bahongadoriños (also the DPRK soldier is doing a Mulan thing but then it turns out that she was allowed into the army the whole time and misreadthe rules so they’re gay). But it just seems too on the nose.

All 3 of these are very based and I would want them to be made, but we’re out of budget after allotting 5% to snacks and 95% of it to Israel. Sorry, but they needed that 10 trillion dollars.

That racial stereotyping thing, but the villains have skin tones that are the same color as a sheet of A4 printer paper.

Well… Most write about rodents, so the villains all end up being extreme cishet males with all that toxic masculinity going on.

My favourite piece of “post Cold War, haven’t settled on a new villain yet” slop, had a German bad guy, but this was right after the wall fell, so they totally failed the “GDR commie, but not explicitly stated as such” thing they were probably aiming for and landed on “pre Cold War Nazi villain tropes”… so the guy came across as Westie fash and it was gloriously nuanced for a piece of Western Cold War slop. And my dad loves the film on the surface level analysis… so that’s one more thing besides Great Patriotic War films we both like to watch, I guess (as for why those - he likes British and American good guys, I like Soviet good guys and La Resistance (I know that they’re seriously overblown in war films but it’s a good trope and I know I’m watching slop anyway so shut up), we both like dead Nazis and big explosions, he doesn’t care that much who exactly is blowing up said Nazis, and I often don’t either when I’m at the point of watching Daddy’s war films with him…).

Gift of the magi but it’s cross-border lovers defecting to each other’s neighboring country as a surprise for the other and then they’re both politically locked into the other country. Never to meet.

If I were to hazard a guess at how these sorts of things get made (or used too, before AI), they’d be ghostwritten by a writer desperate for any sort of work who usually gets paid by the page or chapter and is just given specific things they need to mention in the story, usually with very tight deadlines, so they have to basically just use the first draft for everything and awkwardly shoehorn in the stuff the client wants, regardless of how little sense it makes or how badly it hurts the flow of the story. I’ve been hired to draw a comic or two for clients in a similar way (though thankfully nothing this awful).

there’s clearly a rich vein here to make the “edgy second choice” a chapo listening anti zionist maybe i could write that slop book

edit: actually the edgy second pick should be Hasan coded got to keep up with the times. my outline looks like this: act 1 a girl is forced to go on birthright by her family, she’s ambivalent to israel but falls in love with a war criminal, act 2 the girl meets not-hasan at home, realizes that she never once saw a Palestinian during her israel trip, act 3 the war criminal tries to get her to move to a west bank settlement with him and she clocks that he’s essentially trying to trap her but she ALSO realizes that not-hasan is a lib and rejects them both to join the psl

My apologies: I glanced at the book before throwing it in the recycling and was morbidly captivated by how dogshit the writing is. Behold, if you dare, Chapter 1 and a page of Chapter 2: CW for general awful brainworms:

Also appears to jump right into child trafficking. An adult shows up to a minor’s house and immediately demands she get on a plane to Isreal? A war zone? the book even writes.

Totally normal premise for a book.

Edit: author graduated from high school in 1988, BTW. She’s also some sort of volunteer cop down in Florida. God, the more you read on her Wikipedia the worse it gets.
