DSA officially defenders of genocide now. Time to take sides DSA comrades. Are you on the side of Pragmatic genocide defense or do you care about the lives of humans being slaughtered wholesale?
NYC DSA fought against banning Zionism in DSA at the national level for years. DSA’s intransigence in this drove away many Palestinian organizers and their allies. They were only temporarily pro-Palestine when it was electorally convenient. They always prioritize their own electoral projects over any semblance of a socialist project.
Shit’s so bleak there needs to be a party that calls itself something other than ‘Democrats’ so it can push free healthcare. Absolutely pathetic country to the point where I can have some semblance of respect only for the explicitly fash.
still using google docs in the years of bds efforts - sent from my hp laptop

Me: Damn, PSL is cooked. But at least we have DSA.
DSA:
Every day I am becoming further convinced that the first decent socialist org will be from hardliners splitting out of the DSA once its internal contradictions become unbearable. Like the spartacus league yk. Then shit like this happens and I wonder what that red line could possibly be.
For me I’m just becoming more and more convinced a viable left party is impossible in the imperial core.
i think it’s possible but conditions will have to get really fucking bad
id like to remind everyone that ukraine only has half of its 1991 population. paraguay once had to deal with a genocidal war (war of the triple alliance) that killed nearly 70-90% of its population. neither have yet to end up communist.
the conditions for communism surfacing seem to be very specific

It took a literal world war with hundreds of millions dying to establish the first successful state-wide communist revolution, with mass global impoverishment, at a time when most migration, even for the wealthy, was done by train.
The conditions that are fundamentally missing is that all of these areas are fundamentally isolated, so if one has the means to revolt, it is easier to use those means to hop on a flight and leave. The issue is mostly that there is still too much global surplus that can be dealt out.
Ultimately we are in a position where there is a global international bourgeois that, through its various connections, pretty much runs everything that is important (water purification, fuel refining, finance, major agricultural products, entertainment, etc.) and a working class that is barely even conscious of itself. It will take some major disruption, or likely a series of major disruptions, thst weakens the grasp of those in power. The issue still, of course, being that that global international bourgeois loves a good crisis, if it can organize around it and profit from it.
A: There must be suffering for change to happen
B: Most people past to present have lived in misery. Yet they did not or could not immediately reshape the world.
Synthesis: Change requires a fracturing in the status quo plus the motivation by progressive elements to take its place.
Necessary conditions but not sufficient. Ukraine specifically was experiencing the collapse of communism and the take-over by rightwing capitalists during the period with the most atrocious conditions, which is just about the worst possible situation for a communist party. Can’t speak for Paraguay though as I’m not educated sufficiently in that war.
paraguay lost 50%-60% of its population in the war, the 70%-90% is about male population that died
i’ll believe it when I see it. The “dirty split” entryist “plan” has never appeared to me to be anything more than cope and excuses to do lib reformist electoralism but communistly.
Like Trotskyite entryism is pretty thoroughly discredited in terms of the Democratic Party, but there at least it kind of makes sense in theory because wresting control of that apparatus would be a big deal and would bring a lot of normies along with it. The DSA though? It’s not very big to start with, let alone after a split it will just be another tiny org.
I’m beginning to suspect it will be a formation born out of something like tenant organizing. There’s a lot of good work happening in LA and Kentucky. If those organizations can consolidate across a broader region, they feel well-situated, to me, to actually start to lead.

is the PSL cooked?
They certainly haven’t handled sexual misconduct well at the national level. They’ve also doubled down on the “the former member is a factionalist trying to hurt PSL” line.
Frankly I’d like to wishcast that the membership can save it, but no internal mechanisms really exist that can meaningfully challenge the entrenched power structures and players who’ve been pretty remorseless in the face of genuine sexual scandals. If they’d just allow for more genuine democratic expression internally, it will lead to a whole host of different contradictions but right now the very commandeering tendencies of the party typified by Ben Becker have lead it to a point where national leadership has been shown to be a fucking liability
as anything more than a socialist media company run by its founding family & protest march organizer, yes IMO. it would need a leadership coup followed by dedicated outreach to try and bring back and repair relationships with cadre who left to be turned around and anyone who stayed after the most recent SA scandal is at least nominally comfortable carrying out a party line that claims that case resurfacing was a cointelpro op. so that seems highly unlikely at this point.
Idk anyone saying dsa was better than psl even with all the psl shit happening
You don’t understand, they HAVE to bend the knee to Israeli interests. Socialism can only win if they sacrifice every principle and stand for absolutely nothing.
They can finally not get the boats from people who were never going boat for them anyway
Just Rosakillers killing Rosa.
no more excuses for DSA, this is fucking disgusting
DSA is a big tent, lots of members are going to condemn NYC DSA soon.
if your big tent is full of zionists then your big tent fuckin sucks
I agree! Gotta purge those shits. Hopefully the smaller, more left chapters can force this issue soon.
how do smaller chapters “purge” the organization at large? what are the mechanisms for expulsion on ideological grounds?
Rest of DSA needs to purge like 2/3 of NYCDSA
If NYC DSA is this malicious, there is no chance for redemption for the DSA as a whole and every chapter can be assumed to be even worse.
My chapter is nothing like this.
NYC DSA is known specifically to be pretty backwards, it is not the apex of DSA progressivism.
and then nothing will happen and NYC DSA will keep on doing its thing
How will condemning help?
It’s the first step towards purging zionists from the largest socialist org in the US
i reject this cope-based optimism
And that’s why I’m spending less and less time on here. Nothing but negativity drains me.
Tufan Al-Aqsa (October 7 2023) was resistance against imperialism
NYC DSA is everything wrong with the American Left compressed into a single group. All the chauvinism, liberal zionism, social fascism, electoral deadendism, idealist nonsense, chomskyite confusion, going all in on Bernie Sanders, Mamdanism quietism. They are so consistently wrong on every single front.
You’re missing the greatest distinguishing feature of the US left: compromise your principles only to not get shit anyway
they are so smug about all of their electoral victories, but where are the results? Oh mamdani made a couple grocery stores? I’m sure that was worth you using and then burning the entire anti-zionist movement
Actually, they are the Adults in the Room and if you don’t take a second in any condemnation to congratulate them on socdem policies, then that’s why no one takes You People seriously.
Look you need to be P R A G M A T I C about what you want. Change doesn’t happen over night. Lesser evil.40 years later…

loser shit
But on a more serious note, the parts of DSA that don’t suck should join together with the parts of PSL that don’t suck.
I dream of a left wing party, one that exists without the liberal wing of DSA and without the sex pests of upper PSL.
Yeah can we have “high brass” that doesn’t go around yanking genitals and stuff?
Buddy, point me at em, I’m trying my fucking best over here
more and more people are saying this

Ahh, demsocs. Don’t trust 'em as far as you can throw 'em. Trusting liberals playacting as socialists is how the Spartakists died.

The name democratic socialism itself says a lot. Firstly that other socialisms are undemocratic, and secondly that the parliament they’re in is.
love how every socialist org in my shithole garbage country sucks massive fucking shit & ass
(SARCASM i fr*ggen HATE it!!!)
What’s the difference between the DSA and the DNC again?
one gives the smallest of treats and the other maybe promises. But both support genocide

Our statement on NYC-DSA’s repression of campus Palestine organizing.
spoiler
On October 5, 2026, a post was shared on NYC-YDSA social media accounts endorsing a rally outside City Hall.
Organized by New York City students, the protest marked three years of ongoing genocide in Gaza, and included messaging criticizing Mayor Mamdani’s failures to uphold his commitments to the Palestinian liberation movement.
The flyer included the NYC-YDSA logo, as well as logos of four member chapters of NYC-YDSA: Hunter College, Lehman College, the City College of New York, and The New School.
These chapters endorsed the protest independently of the citywide organization.
Shortly afterwards, the NYC-DSA Steering Committee requested that the post be removed and the endorsement revoked, even though NYC-YDSA Steering had voted unanimously to sign on.
Along with objecting to a protest critical of Mayor Mamdani, a chapter elected official, the NYC-DSA Steering Committee took issue with the use of an inverted red triangle and Arabic text in the post, which they described as “pro-Hamas dogwhistles.”
YDSA Steering members were told explicitly that chapter leadership was considering removing funding from NYC-YDSA or stripping our organization of representation on NYC-DSA Steering as repercussions.
In consideration of this, NYC-YDSA Steering voted narrowly to take the post down. We, the leaders of YDSA chapters in New York City, responded to this repression by uploading our own versions of the post, removing the logo of NYC-YDSA. In response, we received personal calls from NYC-DSA leadership asking us to take it down. We refused.
It is our responsibility to show up with our partners in the Palestine movement when they are fighting for justice. We reaffirm our commitment to Palestinian liberation, and to protesting against any elected official who fails to use their power to oppose the extermination of the Palestinian people.
As the youth wing of an unapologetically anti-Zionist mass socialist movement, we believe that our elected officials should be beholden to us, not the other way around. Our commitment is to Palestine, not any elected official.
We welcomed Mamdani’s promise of a better city and a better world, but over the last ten months of his tenure, we have seen the Mayor continue to capitulate to the same Capitalist and Zionist forces that continue to undermine his administration’s promises.
He has kept Zionist billionaire Jessica Tisch as police commissioner, despite her vocal defense of the genocide and record of enabling racist violence.
He has stood by while weapons are shipped to Israel through our airports, taken no action to combat the illegal sale of stolen Palestinian land in New York City, overseen the creation of a “Strategy to Combat Anti-Semitism” that directs millions of dollars to explicitly pro-Zionist organizations, and betrayed his campaign promise to dissolve the NYPD Strategic Response Group that has brutalized so many of us and our comrades.
We know that he can do better.
Our struggle for liberation cannot be complete without the liberation of Palestine and an end to all colonial and imperialist oppression.
We do not believe in a narrow economism wherein an “affordability agenda” justifies abandoning those who are victims of genocide and apartheid. Our experience as participants in the student intifada has taught us this lesson well. Palestine is not a burden, it is the compass of any genuine socialist and internationalist movement. If the Mayor wants to be an advocate for the working class, he must recommit to Palestine and take real action to end NYC’s complicity in genocide.
Mayor Mamdani has a responsibility to do all that is in his power to divest our public funds from genocide, including public university funds.
The CUNY student movement recently forced CUNY to disclose its investments after a two-year legal battle.
CUNY’s records revealed over $1 million of NY taxpayer dollars and working-class students’ tuition money invested into weapons manufacturers, including Israeli weapons manufacturers, that have armed Israel with bombs and missiles during the genocide in Gaza. CUNY’s records also revealed further money invested into private prison contractors such as CoreCivic and GEO Group, which owns the notorious ICE detention facility Delaney Hall.
Mayor Mamdani has the authority to appoint and replace a third of CUNY’s Board of Trustees, and he can use that authority to make divestment possible. He still has time to deliver on the promises of justice that brought him into office.
No one can pressure us into forsaking our principles, and no politician will ever be above the socialist movement. We will continue to fight for a world free of oppression, occupation, and genocide.
Good statement!
I’ll add that if NYC DSA wants to impose party discipline on NYC YDSA, then NYC DSA should expect its own discipline from national.
According to DSA structure, the NYC chapter should not even be able to influence the YDSA chapter, even if they are a branch of NYC DSA, only the other way around. I suspect the NYC chapter offered to help manage the YDSA funds, which is what put them in this position.
I’ll add that if NYC DSA wants to impose party discipline on NYC YDSA, then NYC DSA should expect its own discipline from national.
Take a gander over to the DSA forums to see just how “happy” NYC DSA is about discipline from National.
The kids are alright
