  • Again the point is the recall as it stands only causes the targeted person to spend time fundraising, along with fundraising for the next campaign, instead of being actually used properly.

Again it's good if you ignore all the negatives because of the terrible American election system

  • We're at the point it doesn't even seem like the dems in power are willing to oppose republicans and are going to do their best to remove anyone in the dnc who would

  • Politco is all about how the dems are testing the waters but seem to be staying on the side of the money (not regulating AI)

A large part of the reason a small but loud minority of Democrats are only getting louder about this issue is that they see little or no action from the party and believe it’s creating a vacuum that Republicans are filling. Right now, the AI industry has an ally in the White House, but there is an increasing number of skeptics in the Republican Party, and those figures could become more influential in the future.

They're all about how the dem leadership is all for not regulating it while some members are upset about it.

  • Because if you don't due reform or limit campaign speeding anyone can be recalled or forced to focus only on it instead of their job. It will be weaponized

  • Not in our system where money >>> anything else

  • It would be if we had an actual democratic system and not one based on requiring constant campaigning and fund raising.

And pointless if can't be done to recall those in congress or president

  • I hope so but there are so many people who like her anti China plans that could work to keep her in place

  • Probably because they weren't going to vote for war on China. Or push all spending to military for saber rattling

  • Because that's been the history of how it's been used in California as a specific example.

Like in 2021 when they did it, honestly would have been nice if could have removed Gavin for someone better but only would have given a republican replacement.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_California_gubernatorial_recall_election

Or when it was used by angry republicans in the early 2000s and got Arnold Schwarzenegger elected. https://www.westmont.edu/californias-crazy-recall

Or any other time in the history of California it's happened.

    https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/recalls/recall-history-california-1913-present

  • Would be nice but would also be immediately weaponized by republicans (or dems if gets too progressive) like in California where they try to recall the governor.

  • Or idf

  • Wdym, that's what a lot of centrists get mad at. think of all the jobs designed to reject healthcare for people, we must keep those around at all costs

  • This the Japanese PM who is trying to get Japan to attack China?

  • They won't get the clue but they'll fill the streets with more shit 😭

  • Brb trying to find them

  • Because if you don't due reform or limit campaign speeding anyone can be recalled or forced to focus only on it instead of their job. It will be weaponized

  • Gonna backfire because ice either gonna just rip up the lines or shoot up the treatment plant/plants to find them

  • Would be nice but would also be immediately weaponized by republicans (or dems if gets too progressive) like in California where they try to recall the governor.

What would he better is just electoral reform to get money out, and set limits on how much can be spent so officials don't have to sell themselves or spend most of their time fundraising
