Relevant context (probably): Buzz Aldrin seems to be/have been a bit of a dick.
The stories I heard, he was mostly upset people thought the moon landing was faked.
He endorsed Trumps second term, saying "we need a proven, serious, tested leader for president ".
So he’s either lost his intelligence with age, gained racism, or was always a dick.
That’s so weird, because Trump essentially cut funding to NASA and now the Artemis Program is completely in jeopardy. But even have to be cancelled altogether.
Buzz Aldrin voted for that.
He already had his turn.
tbf NASA, like many other US federal agencies, has been a hollowed out shell designed for the express purpose of funneling public funds to private interests for decades now.
Always was. NASA doesn’t build rockets, Boeing and co do.

Aldrin is a staunch Republican. He was going to vote GOP no matter what. To that end, he’d say anything to get them into the White House.
That said, he might have truly believed that Biden (who hadn’t yet stepped down) wasn’t any of those things.
