  • Holodomer

You are literally doing nazi propaganda right now.

    Uyghur genocide

lmao I am in China right now, I was in Urumqi earlier. There’s no travel restrictions, literally anyone can go there.

    problems have easy ideological solutions

Correct, because ideology guides actions. Decisions informed by liberalism tend to heighten the contradictions of capitalism; the working class get weaker, the bourgeois get more powerful, and the petite bourgeoisie get one, then the other, making them easily controlled by anyone who offers them a scapegoat that doesn’t question the system that privileged them.

  • Socialism is the only way to stop liberalism from proceeding to fascism. If the liberals had supported the socialists instead of demanding the socialists vote for them while they create the conditions for fascism to grow, and then hand power to the fascists, we could have strangled it in its crib.

It was as true in the 1920s and 30s as it is today. Hell we even saw the dems choose to fund ICE year after year, after they built the first set of cages, and right now, today, are choosing not to block its massive expansion.

And you have any faith at all that those same people have any interest in stopping fascism?

  • “electability” was always a sham. It is exclusively used by millionaire news pundits and NYT writers to tell primary voters not to vote for the candidate with the policy that immediately improves the material conditions of the most people because of an imaginary cohort of “centrists” and “moderate republicans” who are terrified of anything good like free healthcare, child care, college, rent-control, and taxes on billionaires, but will totally vote for the version of those policies that will help nobody.

State-run media with a conservative bias (despite the conservatives being their greatest threat). They’re fine for this type of reporting, but they immediately roll over whenever a conservative accuses them of reporting reality, and any reporting on a perceived enemy is hilariously distorted.

Japan still runs trains to areas where there’s 1 village every 15-20 miles. Single track, that splits at the odd unmanned platform so people can board and trains can pass each other, and they have a train like every 10-15 minutes.

The USSR didn’t even bother with the platforms sometimes, just had a guy driving a locomotive by a bunch of villages every few hours, stopping any time he saw a farmer who had to take some cows to market or whatever.

Roads are expensive to build and maintain, cars are expensive to build and maintain. Every trip taken on a train or bike instead of a car saves the tax payers money.

What do you mean given up? They’re still laying more rails and running more trains than ever. Even running dozens of trains a day, like 95% of the time the trains are fully booked, or it’s just soft sleepers and maybe standing available if you try to book the day of, or even a few days in advance for longer routes.

  • People here seem pretty happy. I guess thd government should do something about the youth unemployment rate, but the average chinese I see on the street seems to be leading a more fulfilling life than the average american. People can afford rent, to go out and eat every day, and save a little, I dont know anyone back home like that.
