Homonationalists still believe that being one of the good ones will save them. It won’t. Throwing trans people under the bus won’t help any of them, either. This is the most assimilated gay man i can imagine, a guy who is playing the respectability politics game as a pro, who is white, cis, rich, politically connected and able to pull strings in the press and at the CIA when they come for him and it’s still not enough to keep the hogs off his back. And it can’t be. The entire approach is a dead end.
Remember, when you are fine with the weirdest, least respectable part of the queer community being sacrificed, that means that after we are gone, after the clocky trans women and the blue hair and pronouns brigade and kink at pride and drag queens are gone, you have not increased acceptance of queerness, you have merely moved the goalposts for who the least acceptable people in the community are. They will come for rainbow families and bisexual dudes and butch lesbians and transmedicalists and everybody with a grindr profile next, as we see here they already are at that point, and after this the playbook will be to escalate things to attacks on no fault divorce, contraception and interracial marriage, because the SCOTUS has already hinted that may be eligible for the chopping block as all of that hinges on a “right to privacy” that the nazi judges do not recognize at all.
This stuff is all or nothing. Think of that next time somebody tells you that neopronouns were too much or when somebody says that the porn bans they are working on rn will only target the really gross and weird stuff.

A lot of the anti-trans playbook was recycled anti-gay propaganda. Don’t let them in the bathrooms because we have to protect the children. They’re becoming teachers to corrupt our students. They’re pedophiles and need to be “created” through “recruitment”. Etc
There’s a 1950s PSA they showed to elementary school kids about the dangers of talking to strangers. In one scene, they show a man trying to abduct a young boy by being friendly to him first. The narrator then says something along the lines of “…and you see, children, the man trying to kidnap little Timmy is because the man is a homosexual.”
Just falsely claiming all child abusers are gay, presented as fact to millions of children nationwide between lessons about duck/cover for nuclear attacks and how smoking is unhealthy.

Fun fact, if you get licensed for foster care you can do basically whatever you want to your kids and the state apparatus that funnels other people’s children to you will actively support you against any accusations that get levied against you. Mayor Pete should have gotten his foster license and he’d be totally immune to consequences.

Family cops going after somebody with money? This doesn’t pass the sniff test. I read this this morning and it doesn’t track. When you’re that rich/well-connected reports almost invariably just disappear. Even if you’re a cis gay guy, they just disappear. Several people had to know who Pete Buttigieg is, roll up to his house, and follow through with the removal.
Somehow he and his kids are still spared the worst atrocities of the family regulation system, though. If he were broke he’d never see the kid again, except maybe at supervised visits before the inevitable termination of parental rights. Kids weren’t strip-searched, he didn’t have to wait months for the state to show cause.
Anyways: ACAB includes family cops. Maybe especially family cops.
Yeah I actually don’t think this has much to do with him being gay (it’s a factor, but not a large one), this is mostly political persecution. He’s a member of the Democratic Party who has very recently been on Fox News talking shit about Trump and saying Obama’s Iran deal was better. This is just more petty payback.
