  • She is still part of PSUV (Maduro/Chavez's Party), Trump never gave a shit about Edmundo Gonzalez or Machado. Maduro and PSUV have been offering the US full restoration of diplomatic relations as long as the goverment got their % of oil revenue (which Biden had agreed on), and the US helped them restore the oil industry. The entire Maduro kidnapping is still very weird, and it seems Maduro still maintains contact with PSUV to some degree through his son.

  • Washington Admits 150 U.S. Troops Injured In War on Iran - Telesur English

U.S. Central Command recently confirmed the deaths of eight service members. In the context of escalating tensions in Western Asia, official sources have revealed that at least 150 U.S. soldiers were wounded during the first 10 days of Iranian attacks against U.S. military bases.

The figure, initially concealed by the U.S. Department of Defense, highlights the scale of Tehran’s response to foreign aggression. Although the Pentagon initially maintained that only eight service members were in serious condition, a recent report from the Reuters news agency forced American authorities to correct the record.

Following pressure, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell admitted that approximately 140 personnel had been affected under what Iran has dubbed Operation Epic Fury. Since hostilities began, Iran has denounced a systematic censorship campaign by the Donald Trump administration to hide the human cost of the war. Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, asserted that American casualties could be significantly higher, exceeding 500 killed in the first phase of combat.

U.S. Central Command recently confirmed the deaths of eight service members, six of whom died in a single incident in Kuwait, while the remains of two other personnel were recovered from facilities attacked by Iranian drones and missiles.

Iran’s response follows a violent bombing campaign launched Feb. 28 by the U.S.-Israel alliance, an aggression that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and more than 1,330 people on Persian territory, including 171 girls at an elementary school in Minab in southern Iran.

The attack, denounced by Tehran as a flagrant violation of its sovereignty, triggered the missile counteroffensive against American bases and assets in the region. In this context of maximum tension, Larijani warned that any attempt at a ground incursion would face fierce resistance.

“The brave sons of Imam Ruhollah Khomeini and Imam Ali Khamenei are waiting for you,” the Iranian official declared. While President Donald Trump has not ruled out deploying more troops to the region, conditions on the ground show growing vulnerability of American bases. Tehran has maintained a sustained counteroffensive using missile and drone technology, striking strategic points throughout the region and challenging Washington’s military hegemony.

The report of 150 wounded U.S. soldiers has exceeded Washington’s projections. As the Pentagon attempts to manage the political impact of these casualties under strict censorship, conditions on the ground confirm that imperialist aggression faces determined resistance capable of strategically impacting U.S. military assets in the region.

  • The United States formally recognized the government of Acting President Delcy Rodriguez in Venezuela before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

On March 5, 2026, the administration of President Donald Trump announced the normalization of relations with Venezuela under an interim government headed by Rodriguez, which implies its recognition as the legitimate state authority for diplomatic and legal purposes. In addition, on March 7, 2026, President Trump formally recognized the Venezuelan government. The judicial text is categorical: Delcy Rodriguez is the only head of state authorized to act on behalf of Venezuela.

  • Guyana-Venezuela Diplomatic Crisis Again.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the announcement made by the Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana regarding the start of a three-dimensional seismic exploration campaign in maritime areas that Guyana intends to unilaterally present as part of its alleged “exclusive economic zone.”

Once again, Guyana reiterates its claims to carry out unilateral exploration activities in part of the maritime areas that are pending delimitation, in open violation of fundamental principles of international law.

Venezuela demands that the Government of Guyana refrain from taking unilateral actions that could violate the principles of customary law governing international relations between coastal countries, particularly those that prohibit States from adopting measures that could create or aggravate differences and deviate from the framework of international law, as well as from compliance with agreements and guiding principles.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates that it does not and will not recognize any concession, license, or activity for the exploration or exploitation of natural resources in undelimited maritime areas that have been granted unilaterally by Guyana, nor the rights that third parties claim to derive from such illegal acts.

  • Gasoline and diesel prices rise in Ecuador - Prensa Latina

Quito, March 12 (Prensa Latina) Gasoline and diesel prices increased today in Ecuador as a result of the volatility of crude oil prices on the international market and the price band system in place in the country.

This Thursday, Ecuador woke up with Extra and Ecopaís (low octane) gasolines at $2.89 per gallon, an increase of 4.6 percent compared to the $2.763 they cost the previous month.

The increase of almost 13 cents is due to the established band system, which prohibits increases of more than five percent per month even when the value of crude oil on the international market rises much more.

Meanwhile, Super Premium 95 gasoline was set at $3.41 per gallon, meaning it rose 22 cents.

Diesel also experiences an upward adjustment of 4.7 percent and its new retail price in Ecuador is $2.828 per gallon, above the $2.70 it cost until yesterday.

In September 2025, the Daniel Noboa government eliminated the diesel subsidy, which generated a strike with protests from the indigenous movement for a month, mainly in the central highlands.

As a result of the protests, the president set the price of diesel at $2.70 until February, and by this month of March there was an upward adjustment.

The National Chamber of Distributors of Petroleum Derivatives (Camddepe) confirmed that the new fuel prices will be in effect until April 11.

The price of WTI crude oil, which serves as a reference for Ecuador, has remained on the rise during the month of March, due to the situation in the Middle East.

  • Cuba is not alone, Brazil reiterate a new call for solidarity - Prensa Latina

Brasilia, March 12 (Prensa Latina) Federal deputy Glauber Braga and intellectual and theologian Frei Betto made a new call in Brazil for solidarity with Cuba in the face of the difficult economic situation that the island faces today.

Both speakers addressed the Caribbean nation and the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States during an event held the previous day at the Leonardo Da Vinci Bookstore in Rio de Janeiro.

In a post on his social media, Braga referred to the meeting and pointed out that Cuba is going through enormous economic difficulties, aggravated by decades of that blockade.

He warned that this situation is made even more difficult “by the latest criminal measures adopted by imperialism” through President Donald Trump, who last January threatened to impose tariffs on countries that supply oil to the island.

“The blockade on access to fuel is an attempt to deprive the Cuban people of food in order to force a regime change! This blockade also prevents access to medicines, food, and basic supplies, which directly affects the lives of the Cuban people,” the legislator denounced.

According to the federal deputy, at the event in Rio de Janeiro they discussed the situation in Cuba and the necessary actions of international solidarity.

“It is essential to support humanitarian campaigns, disseminate truthful information, and press for an end to the blockade. May solidarity among peoples always be stronger than any blockade,” he emphasized.

Braga drew attention to the fact that when a people suffer sanctions and blockades, those who pay the consequences are families, workers, children, and the elderly.

"International solidarity must be heard!" he reiterated, stating that this solidarity cannot be limited to words alone, but must also be action, and ensure that "Cuba is not alone."

Faced with the tightening of the blockade imposed by Washington, various solidarity organizations and social movements in Brazil have mobilized to provide aid to the island.

The initiatives include the purchase of medicines, campaigns to equip schools with solar panels, and calls to the Brazilian government and the state-owned Petrobras to send oil to Cuba.

  • José Antonio Kast (Far-Right, his dad was a nazi) assumed the presidency of Chile - Prensa Latina

Santiago, Chile, March 11 (Prensa Latina) José Antonio Kast assumed the presidency of Chile today for the period 2026-2030, and with this, a government with an ultra-right-wing tendency was installed here for the first time since the return to democracy in 1990.

Kast took command during a ceremony at the headquarters of the National Congress in Valparaíso, where several heads of state or government from Europe and America participated, including some aligned with his ideology, such as the Argentine Javier Milei and the Ecuadorian Daniel Noboa.

In contrast, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva declined to attend "due to scheduling conflicts," which was interpreted as a rejection of the invitation extended to Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, son of former far-right president Jair Bolsonaro.

In a ceremony in the Hall of Honor of Congress, attended by some 1,100 guests, Kast received the presidential sash and the mythical O'Higgins brooch, which symbolizes the transfer of power, from the hands of the head of the Senate, Paulina Núñez.

Although the 60-year-old lawyer and politician won the presidency as the candidate of the extremist Republican Party, moments before the inauguration he resigned from that group which he founded in 2019.

Kast, who made a hardline stance against migration and crime the focus of his campaign, arrives at La Moneda with the idea of implementing an "emergency government" to prioritize public safety and economic recovery.

  • Sheinbaum and Petro to strengthen diplomacy for peace in the world - Prensa Latina

Mexico City, March 11 (Prensa Latina) Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum spoke today with her Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, about the need to strengthen dialogue and diplomacy as instruments to achieve peace in the world.

“The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, spoke with the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, about the need to strengthen dialogue and diplomacy as instruments to achieve peace in the world,” the Government reported through a message on the social network X.

The phone call takes place in a context marked by the armed conflict in the Middle East.

Since February 28, Israel and the United States have been carrying out military operations against Iran, which have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people.

In response, the Islamic Republic launched missiles and drones toward Israel, as well as attacks against US bases and interests in Arab countries.

Following the start of the conflict, Sheinbaum emphasized that Mexico will always advocate for peace, and highlighted that her country's foreign policy is based on eight principles established in the Constitution, including the self-determination of peoples and non-intervention.

She also stated that the United Nations has ceased to fulfill its role and called for a return to the role of multilateral diplomatic policy, at a time when "countries with greater military power are imposing themselves," which "cannot be," the head of the Executive branch pointed out.

  • After 20 years, Bolivia is once again offering to basically sell their ports and railways to Brazil (again). It seems also Bolivia is trying to restore de jure diplomatic relations with Chile since they had really volatile relations since the 1970s due to a huge territory dispute between Bolivia, Chile and Peru.

  • U.S.-South Korea Military Drills Kick Off Amid Protests - Telesur English

The Freedom Shield exercises are expected to involve advanced weapons systems. On Monday, South Korea and the United States kicked off their annual Freedom Shield (FS) military exercises, drawing protests from citizens in Seoul who warned the drills could heighten regional tensions and undermine peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The exercise, scheduled to run for 11 days through March 19, includes 22 field training drills involving actual troop maneuvers, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Seoul and Washington have described the exercise as defensive in nature, but critics say the large-scale war games escalate confrontation in the region. North Korea has long denounced the drills as rehearsals for an invasion.

Outside the venue of a protest rally in front of the U.S. Embassy in South Korea in central Seoul, activists and civic groups condemned the exercise and called for its immediate suspension. Protesters argued that the joint drills threaten peace on the Korean Peninsula and hinder prospects for inter-Korean reconciliation.

Speakers at the rally also criticized recent joint special operations training conducted by U.S. Forces Korea and South Korean troops ahead of the exercise, claiming it simulated operations targeting enemy leadership similar to those reportedly used in the Middle East conflict.

They warned that the Freedom Shield drills could involve advanced weapons systems such as unmanned attack aircraft, strategic reconnaissance assets and new missile systems deployed by U.S. forces in South Korea.

“The U.S. is repeatedly violating international law and attempting to turn South Korea into a forward base serving its hegemonic strategy,” a protest speaker said, accusing Washington of disregarding the safety of the South Korean people while pursuing its geopolitical ambitions.

Lee Ki-eun, a youth campaigner from Solidarity for Peace and Reunification of Korea, said the 2026 Freedom Shield exercise features expanded “multi-domain warfare” elements, including operations in space, cyberspace and special operations forces.

  • Hormuz Will Be Strait of Peace or Suffering, Iran Warns - Telesur English

Producers cut output as the U.S.-Israeli war on the Persian nations raise fears over vital shipping lane. On Tuesday, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council secretary, Ali Larijani, said the Strait of Hormuz “will be a strait of peace and prosperity for everyone, or one of defeat and suffering for warmongers.”

The warning came after U.S. President Donald Trump again threatened disproportionate retaliation against the Persian nation. “If Iran does anything that stops the flow of oil in the Strait of Hormuz, it will be hit by the United States TWENTY TIMES HARDER than it has been so far,” he said on his Truth Social account. Hours earlier, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard had already responded to Trump, saying that if the U.S. and Israel continue their attacks against Iranian population centers and infrastructure, “they will not allow the export of a single liter of oil from the region to the hostile side and its partners until further notice.”

The Strait of Hormuz accounts for one-fifth of global seaborne oil traffic and is also a key route for the transport of natural gas, fertilizers and other critical minerals. Currently, it remains virtually closed to traffic after attacks on ships left seven sailors dead, according to figures from the International Maritime Organization. Iran’s Hormuz Deterrence Relies on Drones and Submersibles, Not Surface Ships

All of this has contributed to pushing oil prices to levels not seen since 2022. On Monday, Brent crude, the European benchmark, came close to US$120 a barrel. However, later comments by Trump that he was considering a near-term end to the war had a calming effect, and by late morning prices were trading below US$93.

Saudi state oil company Aramco has begun cutting production at two of its fields as a result of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Considered the world’s largest energy company, Aramco is already diverting part of its crude shipments to the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea.

“By far, this is the biggest crisis the region’s oil and gas industry has faced,” Aramco Director Amin Nasser said, stressing that a prolonged conflict would affect not only the oil market but the global economy itself.

This week, Bahrain and Qatar reduced their refining rates, the United Arab Emirates implemented cuts, and Kuwait announced a “preventive reduction” in extraction and processing.

The most drastic measure was adopted by Iraq, which ordered a complete halt to production at the Rumaila field, one of the world’s largest oil fields.

  • Trump tells Axios there's "practically nothing left" to target in Iran - AXIOS

President Trump told Axios in a brief phone interview Wednesday that the war with Iran will end "soon" because there is "practically nothing left to target."

"Little this and that... Any time I want it to end, it will end," Trump said during the five-minute call.

Why it matters: Even as Trump publicly signals his operation has largely accomplished its objectives, U.S. and Israeli officials say there has been no internal directive on when fighting might stop.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Wednesday the war will continue "without any time limit, for as long as necessary, until we achieve all the objectives and decisively win the campaign."

Israeli and U.S. officials say they are preparing for at least two more weeks of strikes in Iran. Trump himself declined to specify a timeline for when the war will end.

Driving the news: On Tuesday, the U.S. received intelligence that suggested Iran has started laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world's most critical chokepoints for oil supply.

Officials say it's unclear how many mines Iran has deployed, but the assessment is that the number is very small. Trump confirmed to Axios that U.S. strikes on Tuesday destroyed 16 mine-laying boats and disrupted Iranian plans.

CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper said in a video message Wednesday that the U.S. military's mission is to eliminate Iran's ability to project power and harass shipping in the strait.

"U.S. forces continue delivering devastating combat power against the Iranian regime. U.S. combat power is building, Iran's combat power is declining," Cooper said, adding that Iranian missile and drone attacks have declined drastically.

What he's saying: "The war is going great. We are way ahead of the timetable. We have done more damage than we thought possible, even in the original six-week period," Trump told Axios.

He said Iran's hostility extended beyond Israel and the U.S. to Gulf states across the region.

"They were after the rest of the Middle East. They are paying for 47 years of death and destruction they caused. This is payback. They will not get off that easy," Trump said.

The big picture: Trump has given a variety of timelines for the end of the war, but he generally predicted a month's worth of bombing. He outlined four U.S. military objectives in a speech Feb. 28 when he announced the first strikes on Iran:

"Destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground."

    "Annihilate their navy."

"Ensure" that Iran's "terrorist proxies can no longer destabilize the region or the world."

"Ensure that Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon."

Zoom out: Trump told Axios he spoke by phone Tuesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"We talked about how much we are winning," he said.

Trump also again raised Netanyahu's pending pardon request, blasting Israeli President Isaac Herzog for saying he needs to follow legal procedure — including obtaining opinions from government lawyers — before acting on it.

"He doesn't need any legal opinions. He is full of crap," Trump said of Herzog.

"He is a weak and pathetic guy. I want Bibi to be focused on the war — not on bullshit," he added.

Reality check: Israeli courts have suspended all activity except emergency proceedings since the war began, putting Netanyahu's trial on hold — meaning the case isn't currently consuming any of the prime minister's time.

  • Lula and Petro discuss integration as they approach the CELAC summit. - Prensa Latina

Brasilia, March 11 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva spoke by telephone today with his Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, about Latin American and Caribbean integration, in the context of preparations for the CELAC Summit.

According to the Brazilian president's social media posts, he received a call from Petro in which they discussed the upcoming meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), to be held in Bogotá on March 21.

In the dialogue, the Colombian president also informed his Brazilian counterpart about the Celac-Africa meeting scheduled for that same morning.

According to what Lula said, the two leaders also confirmed their attendance at the fourth edition of the "In Defense of Democracy" event, organized by the Spanish government in Barcelona on April 18.

Brazilian media outlets reported that the conversation took place amid threats from the United States to classify the Brazilian criminal groups Primeiro Comando da Capital and Comando Vermelho as terrorist organizations.

The potential decision is generating concern in the South American giant, where there are fears that this designation would open the door to military operations by the Donald Trump administration in Brazilian territory.

In December 2025, Colombia faced a similar scenario after the United States classified the Colombian criminal organization "Clan del Golfo" as a terrorist group, the Metrópoles website recalled.

  • Iran could cancel its participation in the 2026 World Cup - Prensa Latina

Tehran, March 11 (Prensa Latina) The president of the Iranian Football Federation, Mehdi Taj, reiterated his doubts today about the participation of the men's national team in the 2026 World Cup, following the granting of asylum in Australia to five players from the country's women's national team.

Speaking to national television, Taj asserted that the situation creates uncertainty and difficulties for the team. “If the World Cup is held under these conditions, what person in their right mind would send their national team to such a place?” he stated.

The Australian government announced last Tuesday that it granted asylum to five Iranian footballers, including captain Zahra Ghanbari, following their participation in the AFC Women's Asian Cup, currently underway in Australia.

Local media reported that at least two other players requested to remain in the country.

The Iranian national team is scheduled to play its three matches of the first phase of the World Cup in the United States, two in Los Angeles and one in Seattle, forming a group with Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand.

Taj stressed that the final decision on participation will rest with the national sports authorities, although he noted that the recent escalation of tensions with US and Israeli attacks complicates any optimism.

According to FIFA regulations, national federations cannot withdraw from official tournaments, and withdraw from the World Cup after the draw.

  • If the Enemy Can Tolerate Oil Prices Over $200, Let It Continue the Game: Iran - Telesur English

Tehran has capability to target critical facilities across region as gasoline prices rise in the U.S. On Sunday, Brig. Gen. Ebrahim Zolremovedhari, spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, accused the United States and Israel of launching “brutal and unrestrained” attacks against Iranian fuel and energy infrastructure.

He pointed out that the Iranian Armed Forces have so far refrained from retaliating in kind out of consideration for the interests of the Muslim peoples in the region.

However, Zolremovedhari he asserted that Iran possesses sufficient intelligence and offensive capabilities to identify critical fuel, energy and public utility infrastructure throughout the region.

He urged the governments of Islamic countries to act quickly to warn the U.S. and Israel about the consequences of such “inhumane acts,” warning that their continuation could lead to a wider war in the region.

“If the enemy can tolerate oil prices exceeding $200 per barrel, then let it continue this game,” Zolremovedhari emphasized.

Separately, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that “if the war continues this way, there will be no way to sell oil, nor even to produce it.”

Considering the potential repercussions on global energy supplies, he also stressed that the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran affects not only the interests of the United States but also the entire world.

On Monday, the commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Joint Air Defense Headquarters stated that “the leadership of Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei is the continuation of the sacred unity, dignity, and power of the country.”

“Our air defense forces, together with the united personnel of the Army and the IRGC, remain steadfast in defending dear Iran,” he added as reported by CGTN.

Meanwhile, the average price of gasoline in the U.S. rose again on Monday, reaching US$3.48 per gallon. According to the American Automobile Association, the national price of gasoline has increased nearly 17% since the start of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran on Feb. 28.

  • Philippines Experience Wave of Protests Against U.S. and Israeli Attacks on Iran - Telesur English

Groups from various sectors gathered at the United States embassy in Manila to condemn the ongoing bombings and wars of aggression waged by the US and Israel in different parts of the world. Calling for peace and justice, the demonstrators demanded an end to the military intervention that destroys communities, causes the deaths of children, violates international human rights, and provokes an economic crisis that is also felt in the Philippines.

Protesters attempted to surround the U.S. embassy, but were repressed by police. Mobilizations continue.

A series of demonstrations have been taking place in the streets of different cities in the Philippines since the beginning of March, in protest against the military attacks carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran.

Popular organizations, feminist movements, unions, and students denounce the military escalation in the Middle East and warn of its economic and political impacts on countries of the Global South.

The mobilizations began a few days after the bombings and quickly spread to different regions of the archipelago. On March 2nd, activists held the first public event in Iloilo, in the center of the country, convened by organizations linked to the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) coalition, one of the main progressive fronts in the Philippines. During the protest, participants denounced what they called “military aggression” against Iran and criticized Washington’s role in escalating the conflict.

The following day, March 3rd, the mobilizations reached the capital. Demonstrators gathered in central Manila and marched towards the United States Embassy, a location traditionally chosen for protests against U.S. foreign policy. Police blocked the march before the demonstrators reached the diplomatic building, creating moments of tension.

Subsequently, new demonstrations were called by different social organizations, broadening the reach of the mobilizations. Among the most active groups is the Gabriela Women’s Party, a feminist coalition with a strong presence in the country’s social struggles.

This Sunday (March, 8), International Women’s Day, protesters in Manila transformed the traditional march into a protest against the attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, connecting the fight for women’s rights with the denunciation of foreign policy that has a global impact. The mobilization attracted thousands of participants to the historic Liwasang Bonifacio, dressed in purple and carrying signs that also denounced corruption, social justice, and the cost of living in the country.

The march proceeded along Kalaw Avenue towards the U.S. embassy, but was prevented from advancing by a strong security line established by the police. According to reports to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the protesters faced an intense police presence and attempts to block the route, which hindered their approach to the embassy and partially limited the group’s movement.

Despite failing to surround the embassy, the movements vowed to continue their mobilizations, intensifying their voices in future protests, a massive demonstration scheduled for March 27th, which is being monitored by authorities as a possible new day of protests.

Protests call for an end to the U.S. military presence in the Philippines

The March protests in the Philippines were not limited to criticism of U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran. Protesters also questioned the U.S. military presence in the country, especially through the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), which allows U.S. forces to use Philippine bases on a rotational basis.

Since the signing of the EDCA in 2014, several strategic installations have temporarily received U.S. training, equipment, and personnel. Among the most cited locations are Basa Air Base in Pampanga, Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija, and Antonio Bautista Air Base in Palawan. Recently, the number of rotational access points was expanded to nine, including regions near important shipping lanes in the South China Sea.

For the protesters, the U.S. presence puts the country at risk of being involved in external conflicts and compromises national sovereignty. In the street demonstrations, they demanded greater control over military decisions and denounced what they consider to be the negative effects of strategic alliances on the security and daily lives of the population.
