The burger definition of “liberal-conservative” is a sham. They are the different edges of the same shit.

Bill Maher ever being considered a lib (in an American sense) is hilarious to me since he’s as right wing as they come, even before Trump got into office and he started fellating his neocon ForPol (w/r/t Iran, Venezuela and Cuba). But since he is slightly more well-adjusted than the average chud influencer and he’s atheist (except when it comes to Israel’s God-given right to exist), it’s all good.

He was a canonical liberal in the Bush administration. He has moved further right over the last 20 years and is the perfect example of liberals being unscratched fascists and Republicans that can pay lip service to liking gay people and weed. He got a lot of liberal cred in the 00’s for mocking Christian Evangelicals and saying Sarah Palin is illiterate.

I don’t remember, but that sounds right. A lot of the liberals were also for the Iraq war, it is just that Democrats and liberals were a bit quicker to say that it was a bad idea in like 2007/2008 than republicans and even that kind of reversed after Obama came in and was in charge of the war. It is similar to the Democrats these days with the Iran war. They are totally for the war and the need to remove the “oppressive regime” from power, but oppose Trump and the Republicans because they didn’t do the necessary paperwork. The war with Iran is correct and should continue, but Donald needs to stop for a second to fill the paperwork out.

He’s an atheist and he famously enjoys cannabis. During the early 2000s he was critical of Bush and Evangelical Christianity. If you’re stuck in the 2006-era American political dichotomy in which the Right side of the culture war was dominated by true-believer Evangelical Puritans, that puts him on the left.

Stalin was a liberal for stopping at Berlin. Mao is actually the most liberal of them all because he described the 11 types of liberalism.

He had personal beef with the creator of the website, that’s why. Which is so funny that they put him up there as being one of the most infamous “Liberals” of all time because he made some blog posts about how stupid Conservapedia is.

Mine too, then I learned some people aren’t atheists because they care about being correct and understanding the world around them, they’re atheists because it lets them compare themselves favourably to the dumbest people on the planet.

He wasn’t that rung for me. That was christopher hitchens. A completely vile and disgusting bigot who nevertheless introduced me to the idea that the nebulous “left” might actually be good. Reading Meyers’ blog actually got me on the right socially progressive path following Elevatorgate. Marxism-leninism came about 7 years later.
