I don’t know where on earth you are getting that number for Legolas from. His age is never mentioned anywhere in Tolkien’s writing. Most estimates are closer to 500.
I was going to say… I don’t think we actually know how old Legolas is. Galadriel is something like 8,000+ years old though so it’s not that far fetched.

Yep. By the same token, if you did the same thing again at the end of the main events of the story, Gandalf’s age would have to be listed as less than 1 year old. His mortal body perished after defeating the Balrog, but he was reimbodied.

didn’t the 5 wizards loose most of their power and memories from when they where maiar? i guess it could be the age of the mind then… gandalf didn’t loose anything when he went from gray to white.
As I understood it, by taking mortal form they became subject to limits of the mortal mind. Or something like that.
I mean, he didnt remeber what his name was until someone addresed him by it. It wouldnt be surprising if a few things got lost permanently after being reembodied.

And Aragorn and King Theoden were roughly the same age. It’s mentioned in the appendices that when they were both youths getting some combat experience, they fought together under King Thengel as allies of Gondor in some of the many battles they had against Mordor. Theoden didn’t recognize him because he traveled under a fake name back then, and it wouldn’t have occured to Theoden that this random dude (as far he knew) that looked half his age could possibly be his old battle comrade.

Their official coming of age is at 33, which was a plot point in the big joint birthday party the story opens with. I think they were considered young adults till around 50ish.

That’s probably just his length of time on Middle Earth, possibly in a mortal(?) body, given that he has technically existed since before the world, itself, having had a hand in creating it.
Most of his memories from before in the west were either hidden or forgotten by that time.

Who says he’s not a wizard? All the wizards in middle earth are descended Angel-like beings. There’s only 5 of them. But they’re not just old men who figured out magic. They’re a counterbalance to their evil counterparts like Morgoth, Sauron and the Balrogs, who are all effectively fallen Angel Spirit things.
Sauron was also a Maier, originally.

Saw a bunch of memes a few … ago where they were claiming we don’t even know what Gandalf is.
It’s possible that those memes were about attempts to map the fellowship to DnD classes, which is (1) something lots of people have tried to do (2) an exercise in futility, because only some bits of DnD have ever been based on LotR. Gandalf is too skilled at fighting to be a typical dnd wizard, and his magic is mostly limited by the rules he was given when sent to middle earth, so we don’t see him casting spells the way a game wizard would.

It sounds like you might be confusing him with Tom Bombadil? Tom seems to be the embodiment of the spirit of the land – he’s ancient and is totally unaffected by the Rings of Power, but he’s tied to his domain.
He doesn’t appear in the movies, but Treebeard in the extended editions takes on some of his lines and characteristics.
