I'm just a teenage dirtbag, baby 🇵🇸

  • Whey protein is not great since it activates mTOR and deactivates autophagy, which is the opposite of what we want:

In regards to pescetarianism, I wouldn't eat fish more than a few times per week due to pollutants and mercury, but it's probably still much better than meat. The Mediterranean diet is basically a pescetarian diet and some of the longest living populations are eating it.

  • My stats this week:

    • Meditation: 5 days in a row
    • Reading: 7 days in a row

Next week I want to go running at least 2-3 times

  • There's a great book podcast called Overdue and they have several episodes on The Iliad, I think you're gonna like it.

Eating plant-based feels so good that I can't ever imagine going back to the Western diet. I highly recommend trying it for 2-3 weeks. It's never been easier to eat healthy since there are a bunch of meat-free products now. Just find a meat-free substitute for whatever you are already eating. Or make 16 bean burritos and put them in your freezer like I do

  • It's good that the Christian god has a weird name like Yahweh, it would be much harder to take him seriously if he had a normal name like Kevin

  • You call yourself a leftist and yet you eat something called a Western pattern diet? Very interesting

  • My goal is to have a regular reading habit since there are a lot of books that I want to read. I'm trying to read a balanced variety of genres from novels and non-fiction to theory.

I am currently reading How Not To Age by Dr Michael Greger, it's an evidence-based book about healthy aging. The TL;DR is that we should eat as little saturated fats and dietary cholesterol (aka meat and dairy) as possible and as much fruit, vegetables, whole grains and legumes as possible (aka plant-based).

I highly recommend the book How Not To Die by the same author. It's the only book on health and nutrition that you will ever need. You can find all of his books and cookbooks on Libgen/Anna's Archive.

Here's a quick snippet from How Not To Age:

  • You're training for a marathon race? That's awesome

  • Congrats on the first day and good luck with the rest of dry February!

We are looking forward to your next update

  • This week I went running on 5 days in a row. Last year I went running on 50 days, my goal for this year is at least 100 days.

    My January stats:

    • Reading: 20x
    • Meditation: 15x
    • Running: 6x

In February, I want to continue with reading/meditation/running and also focus on socializing.

  • Welcome onboard, we're happy to have you!

  • I don't have any experience with this but there are some comrades in our megathread roll call who are on the same journey as you, hopefully they can give you some advice.

If you wish, I can add you to the roll call and you can update us on your progress. The megathread is posted every Sunday so you can receive a notification and keep us updated

  • Congrats on your sobriety!

We have some comrades here who are on the same journey. I post the megathread every Sunday so keep us updated!

This guy who does a podcast with Rev Left Radio has great videos on sobriety.

My best life hack for a vegetarian diet is meal prep bean burritos. It takes me a few hours to make around 16 burritos and I put them in the freezer. It's amazing that you can prepare a healthy and delicious dinner for 2 weeks with just a few hours of cooking. You don't even have to cook anything, you can just buy the tortillas, beans and sauce and combine them. I also put peppers, onions, corn, chickpeas, lentils and a bunch of spices.

  • If you like learning about health and nutrition, I recommend the book How Not to Die by Michael Greger. I think you're gonna like it! This author also has a book on healthy weight loss and another one on aging (I'm reading it right now). He also has cookbooks for all 3 of these books, you can find all of it on Anna's Archive

  • Welcome to the tractor-plowing squadron

    We're happy to have you

  • Welcome to the tractor-plowing squadron, comrade! We are happy to have you with us

  • Hell yeah, powders are a great life hack. It's an easy way to make your diet 10 times healthier. I just mix them with water and drink or put them in my oatmeal. Here are some powders that I use on a regular basis:

    • Matcha powder
    • Ginger powder
    • Beet powder
    • Garlic powder
    • Nettle powder
    • Aronia powder
    • Amla powder (has the highest antioxidant content of every food on the planet)
  • Good luck and let us know how it goes! I would also like to go running on Monday if the weather permits
