The most generous reading of his take is that he believes that while transness is real, he believes there is a significant amount of people who claim to be trans solely to win internet arguments.

I think a lot of people in America, not just queer people, people of every marginalized group, forget just how much privilege they have, and the more liberal ones will center their struggle over everything else.
Queer liberals do it with pinkwashing, black liberals do it with movements like For Us By Us that don’t critique the system itself, they just want to be a part of the in group. Even as an Arab, I’ve lost a lot of Arab friends as I’ve became more and more disgusted with the world. We have Arabs still to this day working for companies like Lockheed Martin because they believe they can change things from the inside, or they’ll be in a position of power to avoid work with “israel” like that’s the only thing that matters.
