Buy a nice condo in a country that will not extradite me to the US and be ready to pull up stakes at a moment’s notice.

Invest in non-evil industries, Burkina Faso, and China to keep the money going and maintain the funding scheme until the revolution succeeds.

I would use it for entirely selfish reasons. I would use it to buy a volcano fortress and hire thousands of henchmen. Then I would invade Monaco and steal its prince. I would also invest in research to bring back dinosaurs. I would probably help disadvantaged youths realize their dreams of a life of crime.

but seriously, quit job. a billion is a shitload, but i’d fear that once the structure learned what i was about, i’d be fucked with so i’d want some jacked up, white shoe law firm on retainer to annihilate anything in my path and keep me anonymous. have lawyers handle everything, so i can be anywhere and invisible.

then i’d probably start some sort of trust the purpose of which is to accumulate residential housing in a climate-liveable community and convert it to some communal management structure of collective ownership. open to any applicant, “free housing”, but has to be maintained and primarily improved for energy efficiency according to standards set by the community. funds available for said improvements. payola the local political structure to start eminent domain proceedings against the largest landlords in the community to take their assets. bury them in the courts and harass them until they give up and surrender their holdings to the trust. steadily convert the entire community into a communal land management structure. offer to buyout any single dwelling owners and let them convert into the trust, either immediately or a cash payment to convert it upon their death. expand into commercial, healthcare, utilities, and industrial/agricultural zoning, re-tool for green energy tech and infrastructure, community food systems / no export cash crops, ban cars in the central district, “grow up, not out” with housing.

probably would only work somewhere in the far hinterland to start, someplace hollowed out with no more easy resources to extract but potential for solar, wind, and/or tidal. basically somewhere the structure doesn’t give a shit about. but grow quickly to enough of a sizable bloc of materially secure workers with limited expenses for housing, energy, and healthcare that no regional political project is crazy enough to pick a fight unprompted. eventually, flip the switch and provide food, healthcare, childcare, legal services and emergency housing to encourage and support general strikes in the region. when the feds come in their clumsy style of door kicking, unleash the drones and broadcast their deadly incompetence globally, names and locations of all the decision makers that stand against the trust. metastasize into a national revolutionary project.
