      Yep I learnt the same, because if you start with the wrench jaws up handle facing down at 6 o’clock, then a ‘left’ turn from that position towards 7 o’clock will tighten, not loosen, so the mnemonic doesn’t work as well.

    Ok but how the hell am I supposed to remember whether left/right mean clockwise or counterclockwise? Literally the only way I can figure this out is by visualizing a screw.

      it probably depends on the dialect but oprimir is mostly used for opress in latin america. i have seen the press meaning only on spainard dialect, not sure if there are more

        In Spain it also litery means “to oppress”. I would say it is common in most Spanish dialects if not all, not 100% sure tho.
