  • i'm looking at youtube videos about the gas price increases (specifically in the US, and specifically in western states) and one of the talking points i see about it is that the iran war isn't the reason or at least isn't the biggest reason, but instead it's some kind of tax/fee california started charging refineries in the state, that's then also affecting nearby states?

    one person suggested looking at gasbuddy prices in florida to see that it's still under $3 there, and it is when i checked a couple cities. but then i realized you have to look at trends and not one-off prices, and as far as i know there's no way to see trends in the gasbuddy, so i went to the AAA gas prices site and it's reporting prices well above $3, sometimes nearing $4, and trending upwards over the past month as expected.

    idk, was hoping someone here might be able to explain whether they were right about the california tax/fee, but the whole thing feels like "died with covid not of covid" tier cope
