Snip:
Nearly half of all US active-duty service members oppose the military’s role in the US-Israeli war on Iran, according to a poll conducted by Change Research for veteran-led advocacy group Common Defense between 15 and 28 September.
The poll surveyed over 730 active-duty US soldiers, immediate family members, and veterans and found that 49 percent of all respondents opposed the war, against 44 percent who backed it.
Military families rejected the war by a 38-point margin and active-duty troops by 16 points, while military veterans were the only group to support it, with 53 percent for to 44 percent against.
Beyond Iran, a majority of respondents also opposed deploying US forces to back Israel’s military aggression against Gaza and Lebanon.

Don’t hold your breath. These are kids who thought adulting was too hard, so they went from one daddy to another daddy.
It’s a trillion dollar adult daycare.

Only people I knew who joined the military were the idiots who thought finishing high school was difficult. The real welfare queens
This is a 26yo Onion article that came out as it unfolded in realtime for me. I still think about it to this day.

edit: Not the tie-a-yellow ribbon crap. I just assumed they’re all someone’s bully.

Then quit.
“stop our ship” style sabotage might be better
Pushing around methods of sabotage as self preservation or conscientious objection might actually be effective with these kinds of numbers against it.
Because Iranians are armed with weapons above the squad level and have already inflicted heavy damage on US assets.
Too bad they gave up all their rights like chumps.
Killing and dying for the Epstein Class. No thank you.
I’m curious about that other 5% who are … what, exactly? Neutral? Undecided? Seems like killing people is something you should have an opinion on.
Why do you think they signed up?
I think there’s something like a 4:1 ratio of support/admin staff to actual shoot-you-with-a-gun troops. So there’s definitely some folks who are probably “apolitical” and just show up to their desk jobs.
“I don’t really care if we kill people or not” -person who works on the death star
“Look, I’m just really excited about practical applications of giant space lasers and there aren’t a lot of jobs out there, so I just do my job and if someone wants to blow a planet up with it? Eh, that’s on them.”
Here I go to my morally neutral desk job balancing the books for the imperial death machine.
“Hey man I just wanted someone to pay my tuition”
AFAIK it depends on the position. Infantry have like 3 support staff per rifleman, while a fighter jet will have as many as 20 support staff per pilot. There’s definitely more people in non-combat roles in much larger numbers.

Like “grumble grumble, bang bang”-oppose, or “grenade an officer’s tent”-oppose?
I’m guessing it’s more the “the stakes are real this time instead of us getting to remotely mass-murder civilians from an air-conditioned office” oppose
If we tried to actually do boots on the ground I could see the latter emerging very fast.
Look. If they didn’t want you to frag, why’d they give you frag grenades?
military veterans were the only group to support it, with 53 percent for
Please, we need more movies about how murdering kids made them sad
他们不是反战,而是反战败
but will they do anything about it?
