Anti-war protests have broken out in Kiev:
A protest is underway on Independence Square in central Kiev - people gathered at the urging of Ukrainian serviceman Alexander Todorov, who is currently in custody, the Ukrainian news outlet Strana reported.
According to the publication, one of the protesters’ main demands is the swift conclusion of a peace agreement with Russia. Footage from the scene shows one demonstrator holding a sign reading: “Stop the war, peace only!”
Alexander Todorov is an Odessa journalist and human rights activist who now serves in the military. In early September, he called on people to gather in central Kiev and protest against the current authorities and lawlessness in the country. According to Strana, a small number of people attended a protest on September 10. The news outlet said a much larger crowd gathered today.

Ukrainian Rada member Alexey Goncharenko stated that Kiev is losing the war and should seek peace:
“Right now, the reality is that we are losing the war; we are losing vast numbers of people; we do not have our own money not only to finance the war but even to keep the country functioning; we are losing businesses and our economy <…>; and the terms we are offered are indeed worse each time than the previous ones,” he wrote on Telegram.
Goncharenko said Ukraine needs to make peace. “What should we do? Lie down in a grave? Wait for a ‘black swan’ event in Russia? Or seek peace and try to improve our position? I think the third option works best,” the lawmaker concluded.

Iraqi resistance forces are celebrating their victory over US imperialism:
Commenting on the departure of US service members from Erbil Air Base in northern Iraq, Abu Mojtaba al-Yasiri, a commander of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, claimed that the event represented a “crushing defeat for the American project.”
Abu Mujahid al-Assaf, a senior representative of another Shiite militia, Kataib Hezbollah, echoed his sentiment, saying that the “expulsion of the occupation forces, defeated, from the land of Iraq is the beginning of full sovereignty.”

PressTV has released a good video educating the public about Iran’s long history of resistance to colonial powers:

That’s referring to a US imperialist scheme to try pressuring Iraqi resistance forces into disarming. Of course, they will not disarm – that would be suicidal for Iraq. So Baghdad had to put off the so-called “deadline” until next year…

Yemeni forces have been conducting more precise drone strikes on Saudi proxies:

Exactly. China and Russia have already done a good job at building that type of Internet infrastructure (social media, search engines, video sites, etc). Brazil (and India) need to do that as well.

“Meta” (AKA Facebook) is election meddling in Brazil:
Meta blocked the advertising account used by Lula’s campaign on Facebook just days before the first round of the presidential election on October 4 in which left-wing incumbent Lula is seeking a fourth term against his main rival, right-wing Senator Flavio Bolsonaro. Recent polls have put the two candidates in a tight race, with a runoff scheduled for October 25 if neither wins more than half the vote.

Yeah, Washington’s minions in Western Europe (in particular) would definitely take a hard hit with a diesel export ban. It might, however, actually benefit Trump and his ruling class faction vs their ruling class rivals. The governments most likely to fall are not really ‘pro-Trump’ (think the UK, France, and Germany). And the potential replacements might be more ‘Trump friendly’… So it’s a little surprising that the White House has ruled it out.

the White House clarified Wednesday that a diesel export ban was not under consideration.
That’s extremely stupid. Maybe they want to lose the midterms???

Russian forces just encircled another group of Kiev regime troops:
Russian forces have completed the encirclement of Dobropolye, a major Ukrainian defensive hub in Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), the Defense Ministry in Moscow has announced.
In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said that units from Russia’s ‘Center’ group had surrounded the town and were now moving toward the settlement of Aleksandrovka.

Pakistani analyst Salman Rafi Sheikh points out that Western “Israel sanctions” lack teeth:
This reveals a deeper contradiction in Europe’s emerging policy. The governments imposing these measures are not primarily confronting an autonomous settler economy operating outside the Israeli state. They are responding to Israeli government policy. Their own statement makes that explicit: “The Government of Israel’s actions in the West Bank” are, they argue, undermining the two-state solution. Yet the principal economic response is directed at goods produced in settlements, not the Isarel state and government themselves. Thus, the policy totally ignores the fact that the settlement enterprise is consequently embedded in the institutions and policies of the Israeli state. Sanctioning settlement products therefore addresses one manifestation of the policy while leaving the broader economic relationship with the state largely intact.
Britain’s approach illustrates this particularly well. London has sought to distinguish between economic relations with Israel and activities connected to settlements. The House of Commons Library notes that Britain has long maintained that settlement goods should not receive the same preferential treatment as goods produced within Israel’s internationally recognized territory. Before the latest announcement, however, the government had resisted a comprehensive ban, partly because of the difficulty of distinguishing the interconnected Israeli and Palestinian economies. The new measures are therefore a significant political escalation, but not a fundamental economic rupture with Israel itself.

A Swedish analyst pointed out that Trump’s “Greenland deal” is mostly a midterms PR stunt:
“This treaty is mostly for show, but in legal terms it’s much ado about nothing” because “the US already had free access to Greenland and the main responsibility for the defense of Greenland,” Swedish military and geopolitics analyst Mikael Valtersson told Sputnik, commenting on the new US-Denmark Greenland deal.
While the agreement grants the US permanent military access, basing and overflight rights, Valtersson pointed out that Washington already had these rights, and that it was the US itself that “voluntarily and drastically reduced its own military resources on Greenland” after the end of the Cold War.
Valtersson suspects the deal is “mainly a PR stunt for the US government ahead of the upcoming midterm elections in November.”

Yemeni forces made more gains in Lahij province:
Yemeni Armed Forces have seized strategic heights in the southwestern province of Lahij overlooking the Bab al-Mandab Strait, advancing against Saudi-backed mercenary forces in the area.
The forces took control of Mount al-Aghbarah in the al-Madaribah wa al-Arah district following fierce clashes with Saudi-sponsored militias, Yemeni sources said on Friday.

Liu Shaoshan (director of Embodied AI at the Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society) made a great statement regarding “AI”:
Liu, who previously worked with Amodei, told the Global Times on Sunday that in the short term, tech companies have strong incentives to portray AI as more powerful, mysterious, and even dangerous than it actually is.
“Once AI is portrayed as a technology that will determine national competition, national security, and even the future of civilization, an AI company is no longer seen as an ordinary tech company, but as ‘strategic infrastructure.’ This directly increases its policy importance, raises industry barriers, and boosts its valuation,” Liu noted.

Iranian air defenses shot down another US MQ-9 drone over Qeshm Island:
The IRGC Aerospace Force intercepted and destroyed the unmanned aircraft at 10:12 a.m. local time on Thursday over Qeshm Island, using a new advanced air-defense system under the control of Iran’s integrated air-defense network.
The MQ-9 is the 53rd US drone to have been destroyed by Iranian forces. The total number of enemy drones destroyed by Iran’s armed forces since the beginning of the war has reached several hundred, according to the IRGC.

Russian forces struck a Palantir-linked data center in Kiev today:
Besides being used to store “vast amounts of intelligence data to support the operations of Ukraine’s military” and drawn upon by Palantir, the massive data center served several other functions, including waging “information-psychological warfare on the Russian population” using local platforms.
With the facility destroyed or significantly damaged, “the whole process” of compiling intel “has to start from scratch…This represents a massive puncture in the [kill chain’s] logistics and information support for strikes against Russian territory and Russian troops,” Matviychuk emphasized.
