Musk said the car was equipped with “ultra high-pressure air tanks” to propel itself into the air.

Capitalism is such a fucking farse. Oh my god. Rational market my ass.

I preach to the choir but like holy shit.

Imagine all that investment but in just more efficient batteries for EVs or better production methods for consumer transportation. Or trains God forbid. Or even just better airplanes if this is the aerospace division working on this.

All the money to the richest man in the world and all he does is make stunt show garbage that doesn’t even work in production.

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhh

This is just musk jerking off at the rest of us: see, I can misappropriate any amount of money to create useless performative spectacles, and there’s nothing you can do about it! He’s done this over and over again so not really a surprise: the boring company flamethrower is another good example. Ejecting a Tesla roadster into space another one.

I was wondering recently how to quantify all the human effort that capitalism squanders due to so much of private enterprise being fraudulent. It’s gotta be in the trillions of hours.

“Central planning is inefficient,” says economist from the land of 1 million Elizabeth Holmeses.

i like how this is credulously being reported on as though this is real even though literally every tesla product launch has been faked.

Love when the government is asleep at the wheel and can’t give a clear, quick answer on whether something stupid-as-fuck should be allowed to exist or not.

Found out about this early this morning while eavesdropping on a conversation between two white male boomer professionals at my job. I didn’t have internet so I couldn’t really check what they were saying (although I believed them) and due to my subordinate social position I couldn’t argue with them. One said something like: “With Elon, it’s always just a question of can we do this.” They were also talking about how AI is affecting business, how companies aren’t hiring entry-level positions anymore since AI can (apparently) do those jobs, but this means that companies don’t have employees who are learning who to do anything or gaining any experience, which will become a problem as more senior employees retire. Also, younger people these days were quarantined for two years thanks to covid so they have no social skills and don’t know how to talk with anyone at formal dinners (maybe they just don’t like you bro). One mentioned that he teaches management at a college or university despite being in the process of finishing his master’s. They were also talking a lot about football. Ah, boomers.

When I heard about this, I thought that it was a car that could fly for long distances, not one that randomly flips over other cars or zooms along tunnels at ridiculous speeds. Not sure about the practical applications here and I really want Elon to be placed inside one for extensive testing.

Unfortunately, they are probably Gen X. Most boomers are already well retired at this point, or old men, not middle aged.

Also COVID was over 5 years ago, the kids are socializing just fine, these people are just idiots.

They seemed pretty old and not like gen x. Boomers don’t care about their health (aside from visiting the doctor fifty times a day and always during rush hour) but gen x is obsessed with it (but only in the wrong ways). I didn’t hear them mention vaccination or chemtrails even once.

Boomers literally invented the idea of ‘jogging’, you can’t generalize based off of talk of health. Gen X is getting into their mid fourties and early fifties. Boomers are well into their sixties and seventies, so most of them are getting to retirement age, which is why I would think it is rare. I barely ever interact with boomers in a work setting, they are rapidly aging out of the workforce.

how big even are those tanks? i’m skeptical you could conceivably store so much air to lift a damn car for practical mileages. sounds like more elon bullshit is what it does.

Those were stunts with no one sitting in the car. The car didn’t even have proper suspension fitted to it and the battery was tiny (you can see just an empty frame where the battery should be for a moment when the car flips) to remove weight.

Production is supposed to start in 2028, so another big delay. This makes the car over 10 years late, assuming that it will actually be produced.

Incredible, the only way to make the car fly is to remove everything but the frame itself. It’s the car version of that jacked up Optimus robot that was obviously a guy in a morph suit
