Plot twist: He’s in the US and he’s hiding banned books about acceptance and diversity.
We found his books! Get him!
Can anybody translate the titles?
impressive
Impressive propaganda. It’s worse now.
@localareaman@lemmy.world huh? I’m guessing the local area is Shaoxing? lmao
How is China related to Trump and Bibi’s favorite caliphate? ISIS is bad, unless it isn’t?
Who is my enemy today? I can’t keep track

And yet a few days ago the brutal terrorism courts that killed people for owning books were dismantled and all previous decisions nullified. And yet the Kurds and Turkey are no longer viciously fighting each other.
I’m not going to say the theocratic and sexist new government is good, but it’s sure as fuck better than Assad.
You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.
They’re setting the streets on fire as we speak, while the jihadi “security forces” open fire on protesters. And they’re Sunni protesters, FFS.
Where’s the “white hats” now? 🙄
Only news I can find about protests is over fuel prices.
EDIT: There was some news about a protest ending in deaths following a Kurdish soldier being captured and killed by members of Baqara recently. Of course this idiot I’m conversing with couldn’t be bothered to think of such a counterpoint.
So it’s okay to shoot them?
Kinda ironic, since the decade+ civil war was all over securing a pipeline to Europe, same as Ukraine. Any objective historians of the future will see these as the Pipeline Wars.
Just one difference.

What a beautiful secret to keep, & even better to get to enjoy again.
I was so fuckin worried that Syria was about to regress since it was slow progress to establish a newer fairer government, but they just abolished the Assad-era terrorism courts and nullified all previous rulings so things are looking up. It almost seems like, of all things, even the Kurds and Turkey are getting along (or at least not killing each other), as bizarre as that is.
Looks like Russia and China being preoccupied with Ukraine and Iran has had some beneficial effects.
What a beautiful collection of books! Those must have cost a fortune
And he posts it in the internet
Russia, Iran, Turkey, Jordan, Israel, UK, and would you believe it, even the USA are fighting in Syria. Many more nations are supplying money and arms .
600K dead, at least, almost 10x the casualties of Israel v. Palestine (80K) and heavy international military involvement, for 15 years or so.
Russia v. Ukraine is now over 2 million casualties.
US has a finger in every pie, so It’s not all bad news, gentle reader! Boeing’s revenue is up 2 billion, that’s nice.
Completely justified to scrape clean the scum which was Assad’s regime from the face of the earth.
The casualties in Israel are probably much, much higher than 80k.
What now under an Islamist Caliphate?
Right now, it isn’t one.
Their president was the leader of Al Nusra.
Ahmed Al-Sharaa since leaving Al Nusra and the HTS->current government by actions and words seem quite lenient. They allow and even promote women’s education, they don’t expect hijab/niqab wearing, they allow the Christian and Druze minorities to practice their religions, etc.
Looking at the statements and actions of HTS since ~2020 and toppling Assad (end of 2024) there is reason to be cautiously optimistic about what sort of Islamic state they are and can become. Ofc everything remains tenuous.
He personally oversaw the beheading of women and children.
This is Zionist propaganda, his main benefactors.
Israel invaded and took some of their territory.
Are you mad because Assad was Russia’s boy and everything that hurts Russia must be because of Israel/the West?
Usually there’s some kind of resistance to an “invasion”. The Jihadist have never once attacked Israel in the entire decade+ long civil war.🤔
This is about oil, pipelines and extending the occupation from the start. That’s all the “global war on terrorism” has been about from the start.
But, yeah Russia. Sure. Okay. 🤤👍

Isn’t Russia the one championing the “global war on terrorism/islamism” themselves right now?
I honestly don’t really care about oil/pipelines/whatever as long as the end result is better for the working class, which in this case, it is.
But sure, cover your eyes and ears and bury your head in the sand.
I’m not saying he is a good person. I am saying that the current Syrian government with him as leader does not appear extremist. HTS made and then abolished a religious police force well before toppling Assad. Allowing education of women and worship of other faiths in a state that is over 90% Muslim is far less extreme than other Muslim countries in the region.
Past actions would have him as an extremist, terrorist, and war criminal, current actions show him as a relative moderate. That doesn’t mean forgiveness but when judging Syria via him you should maybe look more at the present than the past.
Sure a lot of western countries supported the overthrow of Assad, would need some support for the zionist sentiment though. How does having a Muslim country out of civil war and reunified help zionists?
Yeah, because Assad banned women from education???🤔
Whatever keeps the oil flowing to the richest nations in the world and maintains the occupation, right. Aid the Jihadists, kill the Jihadists, aid the Jihadists, and on and on and on. We can forget and remember like a switch.

Was, yes.
OMFG🙄
Yeah, because his library is full of Islamist and Salafi literature.
Right? We need to protect books about burning books.
