Because the source for all of those articles is some CIA backed guy whose stated objective is anti communism and whose sources are all anonymous.

It’s not journalism. It’s anti China propaganda, designed specifically to muddy conversations about China in Western spheres.

It’s unfortunate that it works so well. Turns out it’s extremely easy to just pay people to say shit and then pay other people to publish it and then everyone believes it without independent investigation or thought.

Meanwhile actual genocide is going on in multiple countries around the world, backed by Western companies and Western governments, and nobody is being paid to report on them so nobody talks about them.

Don’t forget his fringe christofascist views, his frighteningly zealous belief he is literally sent on a mission from God, and the fact he’s been caught countless times just straight up lying in his “research”.

What would be the motivation behind doing this? Ethnic minorities in China are and always have been exempt from laws like the One Child Policy. It’s called the Xinjiang Autonomous Region because it’s recognized as a nation within a nation, and Uyghurs chiefly govern themselves.

It’s true that there was a period of crackdowns against terroristic forces in the region like ETIM after a series of high profile terroristic attacks in the early 2000s (after the united states began occupying Afghanistan next door), and there was likely some excesses during this period, but repression of an entire people was not the policy.

Religious extremism was identified as coming chiefly due to a lack of economic access, and those who were a part of or committed crimes related to ETIM were sentenced; and while sentenced given the opportunity to learn trade skills. There was a high level of economic investment in the region, leading to a significant reduction in poverty and a corresponding lowering of terroristic activity.

Let’s not forget how the United States and Europe have responded to terror attacks. The United States destroyed Iraq and Syria, killing more than a million civilians in Iraq from an almost total destruction of their government and infrastructure. Right now we see Europe and the US sponsoring the ethnic genocide of Gaza, a genocide of which evidence is easily and readily visible and accessible on any video streaming platform of your choice.

The reality is more complicated than simply a persecuted ethnic minority in communist China. The PRC is not a colonial entity like “Israel”, Uyghurs are citizens of the PRC with recognized special rights and status across the board. I highly highly highly reccomend Li Jingjing’s content on Xinjiang on China, because it aligns very much with my experience while I was in China myself.

If you know who Adrian Zenz is you’re dumb as fuck, but if you don’t, investigate it.

        The guy is pure bullshit.

isn’t dw german state media? oh and then there’s voice of america… well there you go.

journal of political risk is more obscure but it looks like it focuses on defending any american foreign policy, old talking points and shibboleths like authoritarian iran can’t have a nuke and america must counter chinese dominance in mineral markets etc.

I just want to add, two out of three of the websites you cited articles from are state propaganda websites. VOA news is US propaganda in the most literal sense- paid for by the US government to push its perspective, and the history of the people running VOA is littered with CIA and right-wing sickos. DW is funded directly by the German government also
