Once Trump is out of office they’ll change their flair back to “I’m with her.”

Not just that, I know that anyone like that would also be insisting that Israel is just a smol bean innocent good guy nation defending themselves from the evil arabs. It’s actually kind of amazing how I’ve never seen someone who believes both Palestine and Xinjiang are genocides.

It’s almost like they know the Xinjiang propaganda is complete bullshit but it lets them be racist against Chinese people and get away with it.

I don’t understand your second paragraph. Most people in Europe think that Israel is committing a genocide, that China is either committing a genocide in Xinjiang or forcing the people into labor camps (and additionally that Putin started the war with Ukraine)

In my experience there are a million hand waves from people (in Australia at least) who will justify why Xinjiang is totally a real genocide while Israel’s situation is just “complicated”. Granted, it is literally illegal in my country to chant “from the river to the sea” so people might just not want to be openly pro-Palestine in public. But they are more than happy to froth at the mouth with glee at the thought of the evil Chinese committing a genocide, they actively want China to be doing horrible things, so they can justify their own blind hatred and racism.

Oh I get it. Different situation about Palestine then. Good luck navigating this then. To me it’s already really hard facing the generalized hatred of China. It’s like I can never take a breather, even surrounded by leftists or “socialists”/“communists” (happened yesterday again), it’s really painful and tiring, and I’ve only been back here for a month (from a 3-month trip to China mind you)

So in Australia and the US I understand it could be extremely challenging

just today I had someone send me the new ethnic unity law to say “see China is forcibly assimilating ethnic minorities to learn mandarin” and compared it to the genocide of Armenians and persecution of LGBTQ people. this is a white USian so we know they really care about ethnic minorities

I’m sorry, which of these countries and provinces did China invade and bomb hundreds of thousands to death? Which of them did they place under sanctions to kills hundreds of thousands?

China is not perfect, but any one of these locations would NEVER trade places and relationships with Afghanistan-America, Iraq-America, Libya-America, Vietnam-America, DPRK-America, etc.

I agree with your point of course. But there was the whole unfortunate business with Vietnam over Pol Pot getting put down. Luckily despite some unresolved issues, relations are pretty friendly these days.

Nepal is literally just minor border disputes about where some buildings are, how mountains work, etc. Other than that, they invest heavily in trade with Nepal, a fair number of Chinese people live/work there. I honestly don’t know what they’re talking about other than some made up shit like China is taking over the country through trade reliance. Relations with China have helped them to have less reliance solely on India.

Nepal is one of the few countries that China has no border disputes with as far as I know. Ironicially Nepal does have a border dispute with India, the only contested border in the Himalaya that doesn’t involve China.

They’ve had discussions, but ‘disputes’ is maybe even putting it too harshly. There’s been a few points where some Nepal buildings were technically in the Chinese borders and whatever, but they’re not hitting each other with sticks or actually getting upset about it. They’ve also built railroads and more direct routes from China to Nepal and invested tons of money into development projects in Nepal.

Other than the Nepal govt generally being corrupt at most points up till now and probably not always using that money wisely, it’s only a positive relationship.

Literally every single country in that list was a victim of US or British violence that resulted in hundreds of thousands to millions killed, either direct or by a puppet government or both.

Like maybe Japan kinda had it coming but other than that, genocidal colonialism and genocidal anti-communism.
