    gross gastrointestinal stuff

I really gotta sort out this whole “regularly painful, bloody bowel movements thing” cause it’s gotten quite old. Especially given my growing interest in recreational activities in that area…

I have a bunch of chia seeds I haven’t broken into. Might try to make some chia fresca? Or start adding them in some overnight oats

psyllium husk (the texture isn’t the best but it blends well into smoothies) and miralax / restoralax (helps hydrate and make stools less painful to pass with no side effects) are your friend.

chia seeds can be dehydrating if you don’t drink a lot of water. you really gotta pay attention to your water intake as any fiber added to your diet can make you constipated without good hydration (especially if you’re coming from a low fibre diet).

also anytime i have tummy trouble i make a mashed chickpea salad to have on toast and that usually helps tremendously. they are very high in fiber and are very good for you!

incorporating these into my routine helped me heal a long time fissure i had after checking with my doctor that there wasn’t a bigger issue. consistency is key but ymmv so please see a doctor if you can for real :(

I’ve got some metamucil that I take infrequently! But I know that’s mainly soluble fiber and the insoluble stuff seems more helpful (encouraging regularity and all that)

I’m gonna try to make some chia fresca tonight so I get some good water right along with the seeds

      spoiler

Regular painful bloody stools are unusual and concerning and you should not be having them. And its not a “quick diet fix” thing potentially. It could be a lot of stuff, so you should see a real life professional about them.

GI bleeds can be serious, but crohns, anal fissure or hemorrhoids, an STI, all can be treated and you dont have to keep living with painful bloody stools. And I dont wanna shock ya, but colon cancer is on the rise in the under 40s age group and if you have a family history for it you should definitely be seeing a doctor. If it is that, you will be very thankful at 60 you saw someone so early about it. But theres plenty of other things it could be.

You said youve been engaging in sexual activity with that so maybe you just have some internal wound and itll just be some tests and maybe abx and rest and then get back to it later~

        spoiler

I, uh, actually haven’t been doing anything in there because it’ll hurt sometimes when I take my prog and that scares me off it. Just kind feeling… urges recently, like I want to do things there…

I’m gonna see if improving my diet helps things but if it doesn’t I’ll go to the doctor

This is an issue that I have. I did get a colonoscopy, and you may want to talk to your dr about getting one, but nothing in the colon was found in my case. I just have issues with fissures and hemorrhoids. In addition to diet/lifestyle changes, hemorrhoid cream may be useful if that’s the cause.
