Guarantee the “intellectually disabled” he is referring to still provide much more thought and worth to society than this useless shitstain excuse of a human being

Reddit is very full of ableism but the worst is

    [CW Ableism]

When you get a post with someone complaining about how someone’s elses neurodivergence and/or mental illness is a burden on them and the whole damn sub acts like someone having a clear breakdown (aka not in control of their brain and probably very scared) is being emotionally manipulative or needs to be shown tough love. Like it’s one thing to be overwhelmed because you aren’t equipped to deal with someone else’s problems, it’s another to try to justify abandoning them completely because “Their problems not your responsibility sweety!”

sadly it’s the norm almost everywhere, not just on the internet and the unfortunate result of a gutted public health/welfare system combined with a highly individualist society barely able to keep up with their own problems let alone the problems of the more vulnerable.

Context is key. From this screenshot alone, I can’t tell if OOP is complaining about disabled people themselves, or the cruelty of forcing disabled people into an ableist society. I also can’t be sure who’s lost their lives - disabled or non-disabled people.

What’s the statistic for people with mental illness being the victim of crime again?

Oh yeah, they’re like ten times more likely to be the victim than the average person

And when it comes to committing crimes, they’re far below the average for “normal” people too

But sure, one guy goes out and does something bad (which likely could have been prevented with adequate social systems, but people don’t want to talk about that) and all of a sudden, it’s a scourge on humanity writ large
