Don’t know what I expected from the guy who overthrew Gaddafi, but after so many people were promising us he was good on Palestine I guess I expected a little better than this

  • I saw a reddit-logo thread the other day that was just multiple people jerking each other off that if Trump ran for a third term, Dronebama would “come out of retirement” to run again also and win a third term instead.

Obama is the prettiest face US imperialism ever had. His reputation is spit-polished by PR even to this day. We had to drag him for LGBTQ rights and marriage, he oversaw the crushing of both the Arab Spring and Occupy, did nothing about the financial crisis except bail out all of his banking advisors while hawking austerity onto the rest of us, did nothing after the :snowden: revelations, and bombed seven different countries[1]. He had a :the-democrat: supermajority after 2008 for sicko-satan sake!

Put a few drinks in me and I might let slip my conspiracy theory that Obama expertly used the culture war to mask his foreign policy.

so many people were promising us he was good on Palestine

I mean, he was president for eight years. His supporters should be beyond promises and should point at examples of his Palestine stance during his Presidency. Can they find one example? I’ll wait… lenin-sleeping

Obama expertly used the culture war to mask his foreign policy

Did Obama actually fan the flames of the culture war? I feel like his whole shtick was vaguely progressive feel-good empty rhetoric that was tame enough to not rock the boat. He’d literally avoid talking about polarizing social issues like systemic racism or gay marriage as much as he could

Seems like Republicans were just petty shit-flinging all while he’d spinelessly bend the knee with civility. Tho it’d be pretty funny if he intentionally wore a tan suit and ate dijon mustard to feed ridiculous criticism

I don’t have any basis for saying this but I have no doubt in my mind that Obama was cultivated by the CIA.

        would you like some basis

Obama and His Family Tied to CIA for Years

President Obama— as well as his mother, father, step-father and grandmother— all were connected to the Central Intelligence Agency— possibly explaining why the President praises the “Agency” and declines to prosecute its officials for their crimes.

According to a published report in the September “Rock Creek Free Press” of Washington, D.C., investigative reporter Wayne Madsen says Obama’s mother Ann Dunham worked “on behalf of a number of CIA front operations, including the East-West Center at the University of Hawaii, the U.S. Agency for International Development(USAID), and the Ford Foundation.” The East-West Center had long been affiliated with CIA activities in the Asia-Pacific region, Madsen says.

What’s more, Obama’s father, Barack Obama Sr., arrived in Hawaii from Kenya as part of a CIA program to identify and train Africans who would be useful to the Agency in its Cold War operations against the Soviets, Madsen says. Obama Sr. divorced Ms. Dunham in 1964.

Ms. Dunham married Lolo Soetoro the following year, a man Madsen says assisted in the violent CIA coup against Indonesian President Sukarno that claimed a million lives. Obama’s mother taught English for USAID, “which was a major cover for CIA activities in Indonesia and throughout Southeast Asia,” Madsen reports. That USAID was a cover for CIA covert operations in Laos was admitted by its administrator Dr. John Hannah on Metromedia News. Madsen says the organization was also a cover for the CIA in Indonesia.

Ms. Dunham worked in Indonesia at a time when Midwest Universities Consortium for International Activities(MUCIA)— a group that included the University of Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Minnesota and Indiana— was accused of being a front for CIA activities in Indonesia and elsewhere. Ms. Dunham traveled to Ghana, Nepal, Bangladesh, India and Thailand “working on micro-financing projects” for the CIA, Madsen reports.

And Ms. Dunham’s mother, Madelyn Dunham— who raised Obama while his mother was on assignment in Indonesia— acted as vice president of the Bank of Hawaii in Honolulu, which Madsen says was used by various CIA front entities. She handled escrow accounts used to make CIA payments “to U.S.-supported Asian dictators” including Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, South Vietnamese President Nguyen van Thieu, and President Suharto in Indonesia, Madsen says.

“In effect, the bank was engaged in money laundering for the CIA to prop up covertly its favored leaders in the Asia-Pacific region,” Madsen writes. “It is clear that Dunham Soetoro and her Indonesian husband, President Obama’s step-father, were closely involved in the CIA’s operations to steer Indonesia away from the Sino-Soviet orbit after the overthrow of Sukarno.”

“President Obama’s own work in 1983 for Business International Corporation, a CIA front that conducted seminars with the world’s most powerful leaders and used journalists as agents abroad, dovetails with CIA espionage activities conducted by his mother,” Madsen says. “There are volumes of written material on the CIA backgrounds of George H.W. Bush and CIA-related activities by his father and children, including former President George W. Bush. Barack Obama, on the other hand, cleverly masked his own CIA connections as well as those of his mother, father, step-father, and grandmother,” Madsen points out.

We had a fucking school assembly to warch his inauguration when I was in 11th grade. I’m Canadian. People were tired of Bush and he had the being black thing which meant we could say racism is over. I got kicked out of the assembly for talking loudly with my friend about waiting until he accomplished for anyone other than himself before celebrating. In all fairness to the teachers or whatever my friend and I are white and a lot of the school I went to was black and being a teenager I was not socially aware enough that when in a mostly black high school, criticizing Obama during his inauguration could easily get my ass kicked and I should read the room and talk about it later or more quiet, but I was 16. For whatever reason in biology class the same year we had to debate abortion, which is more of a social studies thing, which i did point out. Anyway, one kid figured abortion was wrong cause you have no way of knowing if that kid ‘might be the next Obama.’. This was pretty easy to counter that they could also be the next Hitler, but what Obama had done fuck all at that point as well, hed been in office for 3 months or so. Gitmo was open, still had a couple pointless wars and Americans still didnt have social medical care, I wouldnt even expect them in that time frame. Being treated like Obama seems like an ADHD dream, getting credit for doing something when all you’ve done is talk about your cool idea. People would think I was DaVinci reborn if I had the same leeway he was given. I had to stick to the abortion topic so I didnt go into Obama at that time, but it came to mind. It was a hella easy debate cause the teacher was already pro choice and the only person against abortion was the one person using the Obama argument, I said there was a whole waste disposal bin for potential Obama’s in the girl’s bathroom and the socks and wastebaskets of every dude in this class is absolutely brimming with potential Obama’s left to waste before given a chance at life. Because I was in high school and was talking about periods and jacking off, it hit really hard with the class and kinda just ended the whole thing which we shouldnt have been doing in bio class anyway

While the overt fascist party are likely to trigger a more immediate visceral reaction, the covert fascist party triggers both a visceral reaction that recedes to a deep, smoldering hatred of how, to borrow a word from a marketing campaign of yesteryear, “slickery” they are. But unlike that marketing campaign, instead of being a mashup of slick and slippery, the word is now a mashup of slimy and slippery. Like some sort of water fungal growth.

The “Oct 7” thing is such an obviously manufactured atrocity propaganda thing, trying to draw parallels to 9/11 in order to get strike fear in Americans. Every country has a day of disaster, but only USA and Israel get to write theirs into the common lexicon

October 7th was bad because the apartheid state made peaceful revolution impossible.

And also given your premise if every tragedy is like every other one, then any tragedy you can prevent, stop funding, or stop doing should all but be a moral obligation

It was also made so much worse by Israeli forces. Israel is happy to blame everything on hamas while possibly causing maybe half of the casualties? Which is one reason it was immediately covered up by the recovery efforts rather than actually investigated

No you don’t get it, this is actually a deeply scathing critique of Israel because by comparing Israel committing genocide to hurricanes and earthquakes he is stating that it is within the inner nature of an Israeli to be genocidal, something inherent that cannot be prevented. Unfortunately it also implies all Israelis are immortal, because (like earthquakes) there is nothing we can do to stop them. Too bad.
