I sometimes think that if these people suddenly developed the capacity for introspection, the sudden influx of self awareness would cause them to instantly implode like the titanic sub

That’s the thing, he knows it, but he doesn’t know it! It’s a thought that passes through his perfectly smooth mindscape and out of his mouth, almost by reflex. Like catching a ball without thinking about it. The answer is there, but he didn’t do it.

It’s superficially like a sage… but a sage is that way through a vague comprehension of their place in the vast cosmos and their dancing with the flow of all of nature and the interconnectedness of all things. We may all live in our own local environment and find it hard to see beyond it - but this guy’s in a perfectly frictionless bubble, at one with the inner heart of capital, a tiny parasitic microcosm.

Probably better for his sanity that he’s digesting his own brain.

I recently read that some think that the notion of conscience thought is a fairly new one for humanity. For most of our existence, it was believed that any thoughts that popped into our minds were put there by Gods, or Demons. We didn’t think of that bad idea, a Demon placed it there, it’s his fault. If it’s good idea, God gets the credit, not you.

Eh, Occams Razor. Either prehistoric people thought about their thoughts in a fundamentally different way to everyone now, or the way we think now also existed in the past. One of those is a smaller assumption than the other.

Also, it’s… a bit pat. Like looking at the pyramids and going, “But the geometry hadn’t been officially discovered in a written record yet, how did those ancient dummies do it?!?”

I’m sure right now there are a scary number of Americans who think that god is actually directly involved in making babies. If you’re good and do what he wants - you’ll get one. If you’re bad - you don’t. Of course it doesn’t work that way but it still does because god works in mysterious ways.

I’ve read similar, and to my totally nonexpert thinkin’ it sounds plausible. We had a sensory connection to the environment, and some kind of the ability to distinguish The Other, long before the capacity to articulate an I Am. That the early stages of that involved our brain speaking in the voice of the Other seems… efficient, dreamlike. Though perhaps a little interesting that the Voice of God is so tricky to induce nowadays.

This is the new thing they talk about at all the billionaire seminars, where they haze the new billionaires, by making them murder a baby in front of an audience. They have decided that things like introspection, empathy, Critical Thinking, conscience, etc. are just liberal notions meant to keep them from earning, making, stealing MORE money.

The stupidest fucking shit you’ve ever heard rings as prophetic wisdom to this mushy thumb because there’s literally zero friction in his entire fucking life. His entire world is a creation of the modern world but he heard some fucking manopshere podcaster say some

They don’t want to stop to consider what they’re doing, or their instinctual humanity that they’ve worked so hard to suppress would overtake their entire system, and they’d leap off a roof.
