I just saw Coyote Vs Acme, and the main thing I love in a cartoon villain is raw persistence and enjoying the chase. The Mighty Monarch is my favorite example. Hot take: barring some scifi level breakthroughs in social planning, I think even the optimal socialist society ever within our current technological level would still have depressed, isolated, alienated people just due to the natural injustices of fate. It’d be WAY less common but even The Federation from Star Trek could produce the occasional Joker.

The “one bad day” thing is a reference to The Killing Joke, a famous and controversial story in which Joker claims that all it takes to turn someone into a lunatic like Batman or himself is “one bad day.” That every person is but one bad day away from completely freaking the fuck out and becoming a comic book character.
The point of the story being that he’s completely wrong, and that most mentally stable people would require a lot more than one bad day to become the Joker.

Hilariously this is the opposite of the problem with most modern joker stories. Here he’s pretty lighthearted and camp. Usually they make him so grimdark and edgy that they forget to make him funny.
