My aunt, who wears two leg braces because she contracted polio a few years before the vaccine was unavailable, is anti vax. She cannot walk because polio took it from her. She is anti vaccination.
If you’re against childhood vaccines this is just exactly what you deserve. Usually these people get to avoid the effects of the diseases they support.
Have heard someone in the extended family claim that polio only became an issue from environmental pollutants and has as far as I know avoided most vaccines for their kids, one of their parents spent most of their life in a wheel chair and was in an iron lung for a few years.
My adoptive father is now antivax despite his parents meeting at a center to help people disabled by polio
Neither of them were fully paralyzed but they had life long complications and his dad died earlier than he would have otherwise, leaving his mother a single mom of 7 kids
