Sure it is hyperbolic but there is concerning amount of truth in the observation!

The entire spectrum of “left organizations” was cheer leading the CIA/MI6/Mossad backed riots in 2022 which is actually not very long ago in the scheme of history. Many still did in January 2026!

It was not until very recently that even in fringe spaces could one speak positively about Hamas, Hezbollah, and Islamic Iran without being ridiculed.

It was only after his martyrdom that many in the westernized left would begin to recognize the incredible anti-imperialist and pro-people pro-worker pro-women politics and legacy of Sayed Ali Khamenei. Many still think him just a meme!

This is absolutely not true. There are organizations that have always held a consistent anti-imperialist line. PSL is unwavering on this and only DSA is bigger in the US.

I don’t know why there’s an insistence on broadly attacking the entire American left by picking out tiny fringe weirdos and using them to paint a movement to whom they are irrelevant and unwelcome.

Internet search can find communist parties globally calling for “solidarity with Iranian protesters” in 2022. Unfortunately it was not just western.

Turns out there are shitty “communists” everywhere. That does not mean all communists are shitty.

I don’t have access to the article so I can’t see what specific examples it discusses. I’m aware of and I’m agreement with the sources it references in the one page I can see. Obviously, being pro-imperialist is a tendency that exists in the Western left, but I do not think it is the average and certainly not the universal position. Highlighting a laughingstock group like SWP to attack a movement that a) is built around a core of unwavering anti-imperialists who for decades have been working to combat the exact position you’re describing and b) is largely composed of a rapidly expanding mass component holding moderately to well developed anti-imperialist consciousness is completely inaccurate.

You’re pointing at a tiny group of freaks who we all hate for the same reasons you do and saying “you’re just like them”. These people are not remotely representative.

https://sci-hub.mobi/en/mirrors is a website I use frequently to get access.

Edit: I noticed it is not there. I just have the old PDF from when it was free. Looks like a western left website reposted it 😸. https://www.leftnews.net/iran-imperialist-aggression-and-the-western-lefts-blind-spot-2025/

Why are you so defensive about this? I will happily be proven wrong but as of now there is no momentum in these places to stopping the unimaginable destruction being wielded by the US war machine. Until or unless that changes, I will remain skeptical.

The legitimate solidarity organization Samidoun seems to have been abandoned by the pro Palestine solidarity groups in the US. Just like Elias Rodriguez was abandoned. There is a joke that in the US they didn’t ban Palestine Action like in the UK because they don’t have one to ban.

I am defensive because you are lumping a lot of dedicated comrades in with counterrevolutionary zionist freaks. The inability of the movement to halt the machine at the moment is not the same as it being in favor of imperialism. It’s building up from essentially nothing but that tiny core who held to anti-imperialism in the decades since the collapse of the USSR.

The legitimate solidarity organization Samidoun seems to have been abandoned by the pro Palestine solidarity groups in the US. Just like Elias Rodriguez was abandoned. There is a joke that in the US they didn’t ban Palestine Action like in the UK because they don’t have one to ban.

Samidoun sadly was legally obliterated in the US and Canada. Any support to its remnants would, by necessity, be completely underground and not publicized. Elias Rodriguez didn’t do anything besides kill a random Israeli. It’s true there’s no group like Palestine Action at scale in the US. Individual cells have attempted similar actions and the US police state, far more comprehensive than the UK’s, has swiftly and successfully crushed them. Again, anything like PA in the US would have to be a totally underground, unpublicized operation.

There are two conclusions to draw which can overlap and are necessarily interrelated: the American left is too afraid to take more radical actions because of the power of the police state and/or the American populace at large is too propagandized, demoralized, and disorganized to act as the necessary support base for sustained militant action. The general strategy of the left in the US is to build a mass movement that is anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist and has sufficient militancy for revolutionary action, which, given the combination of imperial spoils and a vast police state that obliterated the old revolutionary movement, is a long and difficult task. We cannot simply will into existence a population ready to fight.

                  No. What an absurd statement.

Sorry but you are not making your case any better.

That’s an incredibly bad faith interpretation comrade. You could just as likely say that AlHouthi4President is saying that you are “above-average” for being anti-zionist.

Those organizations may exist, but at least here we I live rarely see antizionist stickers. In fact when it comes to expressing support for any side it’s usually outspokenly pro-zionist stickers. The amount of “Jin, Jîyan, Azadî” stickers I was scraping during the ramadan war also paints a very shameful picture of the left where I live.

Yeah, SWP (US). Or really, the sad remnant that has held on to the name (and I assume some amount of funds) after many decades of splits.

Oh yeah support for Hamas, Hezbollah or Ansarallah continues to be a good check. Another example is https://en.internationalism.org/content/17814/capitalism-right-and-left-spreads-hatred-and-division with quotes such as

Today Israel has the potential of being a bloody trap for several million Jews; and at the same time the increasingly murderous policies carried out in its ‘defence’ has created a new variety of anti-Semitism which blames all Jews for the actions of the Israeli state.

The problem with Israel is of course it makes the Jews look bad. internet-delenda-est

There is growing antisemitism, insofar as many on the right’s reasons for opposing Israel essentially boils down to “why are we supporting these dirty jews?”

Antisemitism is real, and many of our political opponents love that shit.

What’s not antisemitic is hoping for the downfall of Israel, and lending critical support to Iran and co. As they’re the only ones on the world stage taking the Palestinian genocide seriously.

Further, it’s disingenuous to assert that this random sect with no power or influence is somehow representative of the “average” opinion on the US left. Sure, maybe it is, if you take the broadest possible definition of “The Left” but who wants to include Nancy Pelosi in that? Not me

I replied to another user above. You can reply there if you wish.

Regarding the “growing antisemitism” topic, at risk of antagonizing the mods too much, I will take an “extreme” position.

I would like to see a world where Jewish people face even 1% of the discrimination that they claim to face on that basis. This is the same way that I wish that white Europeans faced just 1% of the discrimination that the white nationalists and their ilk complain about. Not to “get even” but because currently both groups are receiving the very opposite of structural discrimination.

I would like to see the world view Synagogues with just 1% of the suspicion that they claim to face. Because today, it seems that the Zionists have effectively turned every Jewish worship space into an outpost of Zionism; but saying this or protesting their involvement in zionist colonialism and genocide is not allowed.

The only point I have ever seen discussed is “antisemitic hate crimes” but the only people tracking that seem to be zionist death cultists trying to provoke sympathy for their genocidal colony. In every case I have seen, some Zionist money or organization is involved. Okay then I guess.

This reads like the result of some writing prompt, like “Using Marxist-Leninist language, make an argument for something totally antithetical to Marxism-Leninism. Try to make it clear that you only have a surface level understanding of ML theory.”

Does the author have any more articles that make the Maoist case for why landlords are valuable members of society? Or about how Che would’ve supported Jeanine Áñez?
