Mamdani even kept his black socks on as he made his half-hearted cannonball.

“It was so fun. I didn’t think he would do it! And then he shook my hand. That felt amazing,” said Mila Mader, 12.

All swimmers are required to wear bathing suits in Big Apple public pools, and males need to have mesh lining in their trunks — unless they prefer Speedos, which are also allowed.

The rules are to maintain healthy chemical levels in the pools, according to the Parks Department.

I don’t like this whole schtick of, an elected official must be in a suit at all times, even when doing an activity that requires a different wardrobe.

Let the guy wear a bathing suit! If modesty is a concern, maybe one of those old timey 1920s full body swimming costumes

Edit: EVERYONE in this picture is wearing a shirt??? What the fuck is going on in New York

idk the ~evil scary muslim commie immigrant~ wearing anything but a suit seems like a bad idea. the image of white western professionalism is important if he’s trying to play the lib electoralism game. i don’t care about him either way but pragmatically what he’s doing does make sense for him at least, he can’t afford to take the liberties a white republican might

Guys, I think jumping in the pool with your clothes on is the tradition.

Edit: it seems like they do some speech then immediately jump in. So he just didn’t have time to change, and him jumping in was a surprise.

NY Post is apparently concerned that his suit may have caused a chemical imbalance in the water though.
