Their position is simultaneously that:
- Trans people don’t exist, and we shouldn’t teach children that they do
- Trans people are everywhere, and they’re a danger to children
Is the idea that we don’t need to teach kids about trans folks even though they’re dangerous?
Or that we desperately need to defend kids from trans folks even though they don’t exist?
Insert Satre quote about the antisemite here.
They know they’re full of shit, they don’t care, they’re just lying to push forward their real goal which is:
- Trans people must be isolated and separated from their community so communities won’t protect them from us.
- Children and teens must have no interaction with trans people so they can’t ever question the lies we tell them about trans people.
They always follow the same playbook.
“the enemy is simultaneously both weak and strong” has been a tactic used by fascists ever since the days of mussolini.
Hey uhhh, for any millennial and gen X comrades (and some lurking libs, I’m not picky at this point)
What was the winning strategy to get us gay marriage? Recycle the playbook pls! RECYCLE THE PLAYBOOK!

Oh shit, we have to rely on multiple Supreme Court members suddenly reversing their social politics midway through their tenure.
Anybody got a better idea? I’m taking all suggestions.
Keep going through supreme court judges until they decide to bow to public pressure and keep their seat.
I leave what this entails as an exercise to the reader.
They are all ideas that I can’t state here.
Have you tried offering Clarence Thomas free yacht trips? I’ve heard it works.
Queer rights are either won in court, or when liberal governments see that equality is popular now and go along with it. So yeah… trans peeps are kinda fucked :/
see that equality is popular now and go along with it.
This is what basically happened. Most Americans supported gay marriage, especially when conservatives do shit like disowning their 13-year-old kids and kick them out of the house. Obama wasn’t even pro-gay marriage and ran on “sanctity of the institution.” Hard to take that seriously when Britney Spears can get a divorce a few days after the ceremony, but the two women who have been together for 20 years can’t get married. Then you had all the celebrities in support of it, like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
So yeah. It was a mix of work done by LGBTQ+ people fighting for themselves, pop culture changing, and “What the fuck is wrong with conservatives?”
Don’t forget why it became popular though.
Gay people came out and simply lived their lives. Bigoted Americans suddenly realized that the neighbours/family members/coworkers they liked were gay. Then gay people educated them on their struggles, and like normal people they wanted the best for the people they like. Now tons of Americans support gay marriage and politicians have to respond to overwhelming public pressure.
Conservatives continue to hate that they lost this portion of the culture war. Isolation people into radicalizing online communities, pushing “alternative realities”, seeding distrust of “the other” and everyone’s neighbours, and amplifying fear - these are deliberate tactics to prevent the expansion of what is culturally acceptable and to reverse the cultural gains made. This is also why they’re trying to make conservatism “cool” to gain cultural relevance.
When you see the tactics, it’s easier to strategize counters. As always though, build communities and solidarity.
In the U.K. it apparently came into effect cause the LGBT community supported the miners so hard in the 80s and that couldn’t be ignored, but now that’s on rocky ground due to in fighting with the Q+ community, which I don’t get.
Plugging this brill film.
This must be the fabled Western “democracy” I’ve heard so much praise of.
For some reason, I think it involved Katy Perry dressing up as a hamburger to… *checks notes* clown on Mormons
Me explaining queer advocacy to an American: “so imagine a burger…”
“Just hold on, there are some rabid Swifties that will back me up on this one…”
Is this because 26 is the cutoff for qualifying for your parents’ insurance, if they have it?
I’m assuming so. There’s also a pop culture myth the brain isn’t fully developed until 25, maybe that is part of it?
There’s also a pop culture myth the brain isn’t fully developed until 25
For reactionaries it’s definitely longer…
Pretty sure some of them finished at like 15
normal!
