Noo zaaaazs mah propehhty !!
Finally a use for red circle!
Covered in tyre dust and other nasty stuff.
Picky picky
Hmph! I prefer my tyre dust to be organic. >:(
Tires made of natural rubber actually exist.
Then you gotta go to the dump you silly, that’s where tires grow.
If there ever was a single image that defined Boomers, this would be it. This is the world they built.
That is an inherently American picture though.
The so-called “Greatest Generation” also built a lot of this shit.
Fuck stroads.

Ohio.
Everywhere is Ohio. There is no escape.
Eh, there’s a lot of this in Ohio for sure, but as someone who lives here I think people forget how much nature there is too. I’ve worked in several environmental conservation jobs and there’s a lot of truly beautiful places here.
Examples:
Mohican State Park

Gorman Nature Center

Strouds Run State Park

Hocking Hills State Park

Miami University Natural Areas

Even New Jersey has nature though. What people want are sustainable and walkable urban landscapes to live in, with protected natural landscapes nearby to visit. Being mostly empty space spotted with strip malls is not pleasant.
You’re gonna get no pushback from me there. I hate the car-centric nature of the US, and rural/small town Ohio is particularly bad. I’m just trying to point out that even these flawed places aren’t all bad. There’s always something better to work towards, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t appreciate the good that’s here right now too
Imagine having to drive to an enclosed area where people specifically protect nature to experience nature…
Not to be contrarian, but this is my backyard where I grew up in central Ohio:

The parks are just easy examples because they’re public property.
Now, I know I was lucky to have the kind of access to nature I had as a kid. I work now towards trying to give everyone that kind of access, and the parks system is the best way I know to do that.
🙈 this doesn’t jive with my meme-centric world view!
[heckin heck that’s gorgeous]
LOL fair, just doing my part to raise awareness! You’d be shocked how many people live right next to places like this and don’t even know they exist

Whats the opposite of liminal space…
It’s gross but I think the stroad is still liminal space as it is between the origin and destination (defined places) for most of the people pictured.
Murican space
$2.24 a gallon for gas‽
It’s been a problem since we starting arranging life for cars over life for humans, so probably all the way back to when gasoline was $0.24 a gallon…
well it’s fucking Ohio so why would you want to touch anything there.
