Yes, can’t think of any on top of our head but there are some memes out there where we feel that the author of said memes think that’s how trans people are and it’s not actually relatable in any kind of way.

Also that actually pokes fun at some of the actually funny parts of the trans experience

Like some of the things we have to go through can definitely be seen through the lens of humor, in a way that a trans person could appreciate

Honestly even trans tape is rough to take off. Adhesive under strain holding things to your body for days is not fun 😭 thank god for surgery ✂️🩹

You’re doing that for days? That causes infections doesn’t it? In the hair follicles at least

      Eeek days is crazy

But i agree, no matter what you do it always ends up a little tender at least

But try baby oil, like soak that tape in it. Itll come off much easier

      • One of my transmasc friends used to bind his chest with 6in KT tape for a week at a time, and before he got top surgery he was usually found with a small patch on his arm where he was testing the next roll for long term adhesive exposure.

I need to get some baby oil, the last few days have been a little rougher than usual since I’ve been going out in more form fitting clothing recently.

LPT: Even though acetone will get the sticky adhesive residue off, DON’T USE IT IF YOU’VE SHAVED RECENTLY! seems like a no-brainer, right? Well late-night me doesn’t always think clearly…

if you need adhesive remover, orange oil is great. they also sell medical grade adhesive remover for like 15 bucks a box of 75 wipes (the last time i bought some) at the medical supply store.

Is duct tape typically used to… what, stick a penis against the body in order to make it invisible ? or am I wildly misunderstanding this

Back in the day, duct tape was used for that, as well as some breast tissue positioning and immobilization.

It was never a good idea, even for short term use, and it would usually only be people fairly new to controlling their body that would use it. As soon as they made friends that had experience, they’d usually switch to other methods. There were some drag queens that preferred it for stage work, but that’s a different thing entirely even though the use of duct tape in those circles does linger at times because it’s cheaper when you’re using whatever control product you choose more often.

But, yeah, the use of tape in one form or another goes back to at least the 60s that I know of, though duct tape wasn’t always in play afaik. Not like I’m a historian, I’m just loosely familiar with bits and pieces from immersion in the old solo school lgbt community. Hell, mostly from when it was mostly just lgb tbh, though I try to keep up on basic info for when someone in my life expresses a need/desire for info to get them started.

And on that note, it’s important to remember that duct tape is maybe the worst possible choice for top or bottom control. There’s old tricks where it can be used in very limited ways to give a little tactile shift in small patches, but I sure wouldn’t recommend it despite it still being done.

Tape is used for that and to keep breasts flat against the chest.

      Duct tape is not used.

Transmen (female to male) use not duct tape for whats called binding ie taping booba down to be as flat as possible

Transfems (male to female) use not duct tape for tucking, which is a bit more involved than what you said but yeah its exactly what you think it is, genitalia taped down again to be as flat as possible

Kinesiology tape is a good tape to use for both of these purposes

I’m confused, the trans man would be the one using duct tape for chest. Trans women would be using it for tucking. Neither should use duct tape, it will cause damage.

Understood, I will use a scissor instead :3

(Jokes aside, it’s best to get special bindtuck tools, like gaffs and binders).

I actually did find a Canadian site that’s a queer- and worker-owned cooperative, which makes those, pretty cool.
