I would literally start crying if the state provided me enough private space to pace back and forth in privacy
And it looks so cozy…
in privacy
This is the important part because literally every house I’ve lived in that didn’t belong to someone else always includes big ass fucking windows and just the right amount of space for neighbours to see what I’m up to. I’d like to live somewhere where that isn’t the case
you can hang fabric over windows to prevent people seeing into them

fabric is bourgeois decadence
Then why does the emporer strut around naked? 🤔
you can also hang your clothes
Thank you for saying what I was afraid to
Isn’t this something even tribal civilizations got down, like if not building enough shelter at the very least finding enough?
Comfort is universal need, it’s only the capitalism which makes into some kind of evil, like yesterday i seen an ad promoting working yourself to the bone for your boss and insurance parasites with main slogan being “you are only truly alive outside of the comfort zone”
This is way nicer than my apartment which costs most of my money. It doesnt have apl the walls painted in Landlord White and those tiles are probably made of wood and not plastic made to look like wood
no no bro the fuckin free market dude the invisible hand its gonna make all our houses pretty because supply and demand dude
FUCK
What is wrong with people who set up their TVs like this so the only way to ever sit and watch is to permanently turn your head to the right (or lie down on the whole couch)
At least it’s not 9 feet off the fucking ground i guess
If you’re not a TV person and just use it for the occasional news update, there’s no reason to make it the focal point of the living room.
I’m not a tv person either, but even if I turn it on once every few months it’d annoy me enough to change it soon. You don’t place your laptop in front of you in a 45° angle and say “eh, I’m just not a PC person” either. It’s just objectively impractical, even if just occasionally lol
I agree it doesn’t need to be (or even shouldn’t be) the main focal point of a room though. But I’d still awlays have at least a smaller couch or chair facing the screen.
My wife and I recently moved to a configuration like this since having a baby.
Realistically, the rare occasions we can watch tv it’s only one person, so you are kicking your legs out on the sofa anyway. You could totally lay back on the couch with this setup and watch comfortably, and when socializing it’s not everyone staring at a TV. Big win.
With a TV that small, you could plausibly set it up on a desk too
The other wall is missing, because this is a display in a museum.
4th wall break :o
The TV is present, though
Communism is when your neck is stiff
Might be hard to imagine but televisions weren’t always the center of every living room
They used to be a radio you could occasionally glance at
Fake news
People who barely watch TV at all and it isn’t the centerpiece of their living space, just something equivalent to a radio that can play some sports or news in the background.
Form > Function
If you had 8 pictures of your living room in black and white hung up in your living room, you’d be open to more radical layouts too
They even had chuck taylors

Made in the PRC and sold simply as “basketball shoes” as they weren’t branded, but otherwise literally the same shoe.
Made in the PRC and sold simply as “[descriptive garment name]” as they weren’t branded, but otherwise literally the same garment.
Literally the direction I’m taking my wardrobe these days lol.
Tuck Chaylors

Sdmh these poor oppressed East Germans couldn’t even slam their drink glass onto the ground in frustration

Communists invented unbreakable glass cups that capitalists didn’t want because they couldn’t profit on selling replacements? Truly innovative
b b but life was super unfair because the party apparatchiks had special grocery stores!
Literally my grandparents house when I was a kid ❤
It’s funny how that looks better than a lot of shit I’ve seen rented out at 2000€/month
They’re gonna have to close this exhibit lmao.
Damn looks great
TV smol gomnunizm bad
Bigger TV’s were also available, for example famous Soviet Rubin (Рубин) produced since 1956 in many versions also exported to dozens of countries and produced on licence. I had one of those in home as a kid and it was actually good for the times, also it lasted decades, no planned obsolescence and modular construction easy to repair and replace parts.
A lot of the Germans believe it too
