When I eventually learned how the Toothfairy works, I felt suddenly disturbed that someone had definitely been able to put their hand under my pillow without waking me up.
Most young kids sleep really hard once they are all the way down. You were likely carried from room to room without ever stirring on multiple occasions. I find that much more disturbing.
Probably good for a kiddo to be able to rest while parents do what they need to.
Besides, growing is exhausting ¯\(ツ)/¯

I last did that loaded on morphine at the hospital. Crashed mid sentence. Ex-wife told me I woke an hour later and just kept rolling with whatever I was on about.
Hogfather was my first Discworld book and in my top 3 for sure. If you haven’t given the series a shot, you’re missing out. Read all 42 books, twice. Can’t believe I didn’t start until Pratchett was taken by Death.
Here’s the cartoon that got me interested. Death has taken over the job of the Hogfather, basically Santa Claus. (It’s novel, not a graphic one.)
