There’s a bunch of supposed “artists” on AO3 who want your Discord handle for the purpose of advertising their art consultation services. Or feeding a prompt into an LLM and then pissing off with the money. Or just pissing off with the money.
Or maybe they are actual artists, in which case they need a massive lecture on proper internet etiquette.
They’ll comment something along the lines of “Oh! Nice story!”. They might even read your work in question and actually engage with it.
If you respond, they’ll ask for your Discord handle (or potentially some other platform that has direct messaging capabilities) to “further the discussion” or “add their input”.
They WILL send you their portfolio/art prices/list of existing work.
They WILL NOT actually engage with your story. They’ll likely respond with something like “the story is perfect” if you [ALT]+[TAB] the topic back to the story itself.
Do not show these piss buckets mercy.

I have met people on discord who pretend to be artists who want to do comissions for you. Im pretty sure its a scam.
if i get dm requests from people with no participation in the server we’re mutuals in i just ignore or block

i play some mobile games and its funny how sometimes you get messaged in game from someone who “wants to be friends” and they always want your handle on discord and its always always always someone with a pfp of a cute korean girl
100% some kind of scam but ive never given them the engagement they want so i dont know exactly what the scam could be
I was so confused in the beginning when the cute Chinese girls messaging me on rednote were actually real.
it was a bit of a culture shock because mainland chinese people are just so direct.
“show me picture”
“no thanks im married just making friends”
“you have kids?”
“no, you?”
“yes, one kid. why dont you have kids? something wrong with you?”
