One day maybe American Jews will get a shot in the publishing industry. They’ve been excluded from it for so long.

There were scenes in Tel Aviv, family histories shaped by the Holocaust, a climax involving cancellation by left-wing antisemites, and an overall tone of aching sadness.

family histories shaped by the Holocaust

a climax involving cancellation by left-wing antisemites

This is literally what I’d expect from a right wing parody of leftists; talking about actual horrific atrocities that happened in the MC’s family history, and the real tragedy (the climax) being that they were canceled. We’ve literally seen this kind of right wing humor in shows all the time: the main character is upset about a non-issue while their (war criminal) father mocks him and talks about his experiences in ‘nam’.

In the Warsaw Ghetto, Emanuel Ringelblum and his fellow members of Oneg Shabbat secretly documented Jewish life under Nazi occupation. As the death vise of history tightened around them, they preserved Jewish testimony. And in 1949, just months after Israel’s War of Independence, S. Yizhar published “Khirbet Khizeh,” a novel documenting the moral complexity of 1948 in real time. He trusted his readers’ collective empathy and intellect, even while his new state was raw, precarious, traumatized and still fighting to understand herself.

You know what else they did in the Warsaw ghetto? organise violent resistance agaisnt the fascists who kept them confined there and controlled the flow of the essentials to life into there, the mental gymnsatics/blindspot these monsters have not to make the connection to the victims of the modern genocide and its resisters, is ashtonishing

She couldn’t even figure out how to grift correctly, any one of those chud publishers would’ve jumped at the chance to ”sell” this.

I turned to Publishers Marketplace, the leading industry database where many book deals are announced, and reviewed fiction deals for books by Jewish authors that publicly signaled Jewish or Israeli content. What I found was grim. Between 2023 and 2024, there was a 76% decline in fiction deal announcements to large presses that mentioned Jews, Judaism or Israel. The numbers improved somewhat in 2025, but they did not recover. Compared with 2023, announced sales of Jewish books were still down 47% at large presses.

Damn I wonder what was going on during 2023 and 2024 that could have impacted people’s appetite for books about Israel.

Also this author’s published works is a bunch of wedding slop.

As a romance novel reader I am soooooooooo tired of zionism randomly popping up in romance novels. Happens more than you’d think and is never ever obvious from the blurb. I can count on one hand the amount wlw romances I’ve read with a Jewish protagonist that aren’t weird zionist shit, sadly. So, lmao.

Nor mine, but I’m not really shocked I guess. From a joyless materialist perspective pretty much all romances are very reactionary and pro-status quo in character, in fact it’s almost built into the genre. So too then are the transes and the gays, and even sometimes the theys. (To say nothing of Israeli rainbow-washing efforts, watch Pride Denied) You also get weird shit like sapphic military romances which is absolutely buckwild to me. I have been in a server with former F-16 mechanics who enjoy lesbian romances. All of this to say: do not join a queer server or groupchat of any sort in proximity to a military base. 07

I was already a successful nonfiction author with two books that had sold more than 150,000 copies. I had a track record and a substantial online platform, And my new book garnered substantial interest.

Such a glaringly obvious typo in a paragraph about author credentials is unintentional satire.

It’s actually riddled with typos now that I finished it.
