Video games were marketed as boys toys in the past, but even then girls played them and never had a problem playing as a male character.
If you can relate to a cartoon plumber that says mama mia and wahoo, but can’t relate to a women, I am deeply concerned for you. You don’t even have to relate to the main character to enjoy the game. I don’t relate to Kris Deltarune in the slightest, but I still enjoy the shit out of those games.
I only play like, 10 video games anymore and they’re all high score based and last less than an 2 hours. Most games that try to have stories shouldn’t
Yeah of course no stories. But ten whole games? I juggle between just five games at once and they’re all purely abstracted symbols and numbers floating in a void without any setting or characters. Even the numbers are meaningless and generated at random to help avoid the possibility of emergent narratives due to human pattern seeking.
