I got a pic on my phone I will post but wow, so far so good! Thinkpad powa!

SQUEE!
The upgrade from an old mechanical hdd to a ssd is like night and day. Web browsing is so smooth.
I am happy that one of our finest posters finally has a computer befitting of them

Stop I’m just a boob with a screw loose. But yeah I like it! I was using the same MSI gaming laptop since 2013, was about time I upgraded.
I remember when I paid ~$200 for a 60GB SSD in 2010, every other PC suddenly felt so slow.
I went from constant 100% hdd use to now ZERO percent with the ssd, the only thing being taxed is the ram by google chrome.
This has been my experience in general for second hand thinkpads. Ridiculously cheap and come practically unused. My first one came with a free backpack used as packaging and i use them both for many years. X240 my beloved
That’s cool and a good deal, this came shipped with just the charger.
where did you rodern one
Trackpad is really good, keyboard works well too. Charges okay, sound check. So far so good. I’m using win 11 rn that it shipped with until I can fully put it through it’s paces. USB check thumbdrive works.
:lets-fucking-go: :lets-fucking-go: :lets-fucking-go: :lets-fucking-go: :lets-fucking-go:
Imagine your newfound posting power! :spirit-bomb:
Let’s goooo, but for real I’m glad. I did overpay for this and learned my lesson there, but it worked out well in the end!

i love second hand business laptops, almost always practically new. their evil cousin is school laptops.
also windows

now install linux on it
No sheets on the bed??

I just changed them, they’re in the wash
Sold them to buy a thinkpad
nice! recently acquired a T480 myself, for super cheap. was able to use the ram from my old laptop to bump it up to 32g. running nixos, its great.
the charging port gave out though - maybe that’s why it was so cheap. but, turns out you can use the usb port next to it to charge the laptop too. only bummer is both of those are soldered on the board.
Sweet!
Bro you slap any Linux distro on this bad gurl and she’ll slay packets for you for eternity.

Only one thing to do now

I’ve had a Thinkpad Yoga since last year, with Fedora Linux. It’s a great machine despite its age. It’s become my main device for acquiring movies, music, and games from very legal and very legitimate channels. Works like a charm.
I was looking at the yoga too. but I kind of just impulse bought the t480s
i’m a big fan of the old thinkpad swivel tablets and early yogas from the '00s to the mid 2010s.
super repairable, super durable, well-engineered, and they make for great wacom tablets. as someone who both travels a lot and does digital art, these are pretty much the only suitable laptops.
Welcome to the cult! For real though Thinkpads are great value and form factor, with the T480s being amazing at teardown if you ever need to replace a component or upgrade the RAM or Hard drive.
Thinkpad club, yeah the case is really solid, for a lightweight laptop it feels well built. Plus I put some stickers on the lid :D
Nice! I still got my t440p going strong and decked out in decals, like a well loved Accord

ty ty
very good thinkpad right there
linux will give that thing mad longevity; i’ve got thinkpads way older and lower-spec than that one that still run like a dream since the OS wastes very few resources
