    The especially weird thing about defending Swalwell on this is that the accusation is convenient. Democrats have been handwringing for months that they have too many candidates in California’s “jungle primary,” where everyone’s on one ballot and the top two candidates move on to the general election. The Republicans have two major candidates. The Democrats have several. So there’s been talk that the state might accidentally elect its first Republican since 2006. Swalwell dropping out is just what they need.

    So we’re in a position where establishment Dems (Pelosi, Swalwell’s own campaign team) are dropping their support, but the BlueMAGA crowd is coming to his defense.
