The Supreme Court on Monday said it will decide whether Trump can fire members of the Federal Trade Commission without cause, taking up a dispute that tests the president’s removal power and could weaken protections enacted by Congress that aim to insulate independent agencies from political pressure.

The high court said in a brief order that it will also allow Mr. Trump to fire Rebecca Kelly Slaughter from her position at the FTC while it considers the case. It will hear arguments in its December session, and its stay will remain in place until it issues a decision.

Justices Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented from the majority’s decision to allow Slaughter’s removal.

    This is breathtaking.

We have a Supreme Court that is literally granting Trump any power he demands. They’re letting him demolish the building even before they rule on the point of law because they clearly believe he can preemptively do whatever the fuck he wants. I’ve been hopeful there would be a backstop of sanity somewhere we’d eventually run up against, but it’s clear that’s not going to happen.

I expect the six evil fuckers on this court will soon gleefully grant Trump the power to imprison anyone on a whim while taking a break from their celebration of the death of American democracy. I would not be a bit surprised if they block 2026 elections and allow the felon a 3rd term.

All the while Democrats keep chanting “They go low, we go high.”

I love how the clown court starts with the conclusion of letting her be fired because you can’t refuse the supreme leader.
