Regardless of the fact that the rebellion didn’t replace the empire with a utopia, only resurrected the bourgeouis parliamentary republic that created the empire and would end up collapsing in like 30 years…
They also did incredibly violent “problematic” acts, especially in this show. Did this dipshit actually watch it?
the books had the new republic take a fashy turn that kinda never got fully resolved with darth [spoiler] and was way more interesting than the shitty movies other than the part where the books also started having the dumbest possible shit from the clone wars show.
The only book I read from this period was the one about princess Leia. And I wasn’t really a leftist at the time, but it seems like a very clear allegory to postwar Europe, or Reconstruction, because of the knowing inclusion of imperial sympathizers in the Senate and the feckless inability (perhaps intentional, but I don’t entirely remember) of their liberal institutions to root it out. By the end of the new republic, the reactionaries were openly displaying imperial artifacts and symbols in their offices and homes, just out of “curiosity” of course.
Episode 9 and somehow palpatine returning was the worst shit they ever could have written.___
