Xbox and Google have apparently provided conflicting opinions on whether Xbox is allowed to sell and release games from its Android app. In October, a US judge issued a permanent injunction ordering Google to open its Android market to competitors. The ruling, which was supposed to take effect this month, means that Google will not

Xbox could release a separate app for people to sideload while trying to work things out with getting released on Google play.

And do what Samsung does of releasing their phones with their own store preinstalled.

    Playstation manages just fine.

Also, I guess a judge ruled they can’t force them to use Google play billing. I like using Google Play to unsubscribe.

Why not just teach gamers in the mean time to sideload their own store ? F-Droid isnt downloadable through Google Play but still works as an alternative once you’ve installed it ?

It’s more complicated. Apple allows it, but apply a lot of fees so that it is really expensive (and probably not viable). If I remember correctly, you can propose your own store but you have to pay a fee for every download on the store (even for free apps).

The problem is that most people are lazy. They don’t download an alternate App Store, because of security reasons, and, with all the “improvements to security” it’s getting harder to download one in the first place.
