That’s nearly the entire range of acting skill. Dave Bautista stole the whole movie in Blade Runner 2049 and he was only in it for like 5 minutes. The Rock has played himself for 42 movies in a row. Apples and oranges

Yeah Bautista is a wrestler who became an actor. The rock is a wrestler who continues to play his wrestling persona on film.

Bautista has genuine chops and pushes himself artistically.

I am so looking forward to the rest of Bautista’s career. You can really tell he’s discovered a passion instead of just business pivoting.

I wish him nothing but the best health and graceful mental aging, because he’s well poised to nail those elderly person roles and I genuinely think he’s got the innate chops to be as good at 'em as say Stewart or McKellen, and just lacked classical theater learning. Arguably, wrestling is a form of theater though, and I think he’s learning and experimenting pretty good.

I mean I think it’s absolutely inarguable in fact that wrestling is certainly theatre. It’s a bit more kabuki than Hollywood but you definitely don’t make it in wrestling without charisma and an understanding of character and storytelling.

Totally agree, you can see in the roles he’s finding that he respects the craft in a way that the rock clearly doesn’t, moreso out of ignorance I think than malice, but still
