And I’m actually not that tired, my body is sore and aches but I’m still pretty good. I did fuck up with some of the alignment of the roof over the edge of the house, because like fuck me it’s literally my first time doing that, and got passively aggressive from my dad’s friend whatever man, my dad said it’s fine it looks good and the new gutter is going on anyway.
So yeah I did a lot, proud of myself.
Roofing is hard and dangerous work. But guys from south america do the thankless job for less pay than their white counterparts. “Unskilled labor” my ass.
Third most dangerous job in the US. #1 is logging and #2 is commercial fishing. I have done two of the three, logging and roofing.
I wish I could find a job I’m good at, I’m kind of a fuck up all around. If we lived under communism, I’d love to work in a museum archiving media.
I wish I could find a job I’m good at, I’m kind of a fuck up all around.
Are you sure about that, or have you just accrued experience in a variety of specific situations that you didn’t end up latching onto?
idk I always have a knack of fucking things up then people at work hold onto it and never let me live it down
Media archival as well as museum displays sounds so fucking fun.
I worked at a sit down job for 6 months once and couldn’t stand it. Physical labour has always been my one true calling, because at the end of the day, you can see what you’ve contributed to.
Hills hurt, desks kill.
I get you. I actually used to do physical labor when I was younger, I used to push shopping carts at my grocery store. Most people would laugh and say that’s a joke, but it was tough, out there rain or shine pushing 10 or 12 carts at a time up a slight hill. I’d come home beat from work and not have the energy for nothing, and I was in pretty good shape at the time, I was running and working out.

I know places like walmart and target have machines that can go out and push, but I worked for a small store. For sure less weight and smaller too. The easier carts to push back were the little ones you could only fit like 10-15 items in.
Smaller carts, smaller parking lots, smaller stores and more of them so that you’re loading everything into a bike trailer instead of a car.
Cart pusher is a brutal job, especially in the snow. I just bring my bags with me when I go shopping, so that the small cart i wheel around ends up inside the building when i’m done.
Nice

nice work
I actually feel proud of myself, like I had this plan that I would fake sick and find my way out of it, but no I actually did it. I don’t like physical labor since I’m out of shape, but not as bad of shape as I thought! My daily walks and stretches helped.
that’s awesome… i’m very similar in that sometimes i have big plans of what i’m gonna do, then i find a way out of it. but when you actually stick to a plan and get it done it feels so good afterward
Yeah. I’m starting to feel sore now tho
Hot bath with Epsom salts
It’ll make you feel like an old man, but a comfortable old man
I don’t have a bath just a shower, gonna shower later after I eat.
Too tired now to shower, ahhh help
edit: forced myself in the shower and the hot water felt v. good on me muscles
Proud of you, self care is important even when you’re beat down from work
proud of you <3
Is the other half folk or eurobeat?
Is this a techno joke?
What material is the other half of your roof? inquiring minds want to know.
Metal, dad and his friend need to buy another 2 sheets I believe, it’s going on over shingles.
which half?
Road facing
Nice!Oh wow, that’s a good, honest kind of sore. Thanks for sharing that, I’m proud of you too.
How is your dad?
He’s pretty weak honestly which is worrying.
I’m sorry to hear that. I’m glad you’re doing hard work to ease some of his physical, mental, emotional burden. It’s for you too, after everything.
Yeah well that’s the thing right when he passes they’re going to sell the house and he told me I might be homeless. There’s not much I can do because if I don’t help he’ll kick me out and well I’ll be homeless now rather than later. It’s very complicated.
Ouch. That’s tough. And you did the right thing, anyway. That’s extra-admirable. I’m even more proud of you. I hope you’re exploring potential solutions, and are able to find solutions. My best to you. ❤️🫂
Thanks. Well I’m on the waitlist for public housing, but it can be anywhere from 1-5 years.
My own situation needs remedying, so I’m looking, too. Maybe we can sort something.
Someone here on hb actually offered me a place to live but it fell through when their marriage was on the rocks sadly, and it sucks because they were close by too.
