Libby Klinner said on Instagram on Saturday that the U.S. Air Force recently told her that her family wasn’t eligible for certain benefits due to the United States not officially declaring war on Iran.
“The Air Force recently told me that because we haven’t officially declared war, my kids and I aren’t eligible for some benefits. So not only was my husband killed in a war he never wanted to participate in, but now the benefits we’re left with are being dictated by semantics and public perceptions. 6 months of a war that we can’t call a war,”

The smol bean pilot thought he would be helping bomb people that had no way to shoot back, of course he didn’t want to participate in a war where he was actually at risk of being killed! Pilots are supposed to be above that whole “being in danger” stuff! It’s unfair!

Bullshit. Anyone who’s read a news article, taken a high school history class, or seen 10 minutes of military propaganda knows that this military gets the most use out of any military on the planet.
No one is really living in this naive fantasy world where the military is important but it doesn’t need to get used. People join up because they make a cost-benefit analysis, and they decide that the harm they do to others is worth it.
Alot don’t even do a real cost benefit analysis. There are many that actively want to stick to to the enemy. It is only when they have to suffer consequences that they realize nobody actually gives a shit if they live or die.

Never even having talked to a recruiter myself, but having known a bunch of veterans, I would estimate that across the entire military, it’s 20% bloodthirst and 80% economic. Many people will cite “legacy” or “civic duty” or “search for meaning”, but those are just cover for one of the other reasons.
the downside of repeatedly failing to meet recruitment quotas for the imperial machine is that the recruits you do get will have limited analytical skills.
the upside is that you can promise these bozos anything and they’ll believe it.
