The article makes some good points but this whole “everything I don’t like is capitalist decadence” bit sort of undermines the central argument imo
It rings of Adorno’s hatred of Jazz as a fully capitalist genre, which by reading his criticism strikes me as just classical music chauvinism behind “Marxist” analysis.
The author doesn’t even propose any examples of what they think “good” mass culture should be. Apparently the only way you can find joy and meaning in your life is through rigorous study of Marxism.
If this wasn’t published on monthly review, and the author wasn’t so self-serious, I’d even think it’s a satire piece made to make fun of “fun-hating Marxists”
Adorno’s hatred of Jazz as a fully capitalist genre
Sounds like the opinion of someone not worth listening to
obviously good mass culture is The Wire, InterVision, Loyalists, and Virtua Fighter
Virtua Fighter
I think you meant tekken, the most problematic and diverse fighting game.
i was trying to do opposites and VF is the highest brow and least spectacle of major fighting games, while mk has a legion of mega casual players who are just there for the gore. plus mk is massively different every time while vf has been milking vf 5 for 20 years.
Imma be real with you, I know nearly nothing about fighting games, I just remember being very frustrated at VF, while Tekken was fun even if I sucked.
Now that you explained your point it does make sense! VF is the kind of fighting game people who optimize for everything would want to play.
VF feels very stiff while Tekken just has a nice “flow” to it.
Lenin had similar issues with PROLEKULT and modern art in general, he was a big classics enjoyer
Wheres hate island
Great Britain
Yeah
yeah fuck MK. ed boon suck my ass.
Giving the artists PTSD from staring at snuff videos all day just so the gore looks marginally more realistic.
MK II is the cheapest fighting game ever in the history of ball busting AI, this is known, and cannot be disputed.
Calling out love island but not big brother? smdh authoritarian tankies loving the surveillance state again

Idk people might still make up fun little games after overthrowing capitalism - this article wreaks of self-serious, peevish, nerdery
The best critique of Love Island I’ve heard so far is that it’s impossible to understand or follow conversations because everyone has mumble mouth and can’t seem to speak in complex sentences
It’s more fun watching people’s reactions to the show than the show itself
I like Traitors smh :/
whats wrong with taking kids on holidays lol. I do agree heavily on individualism rising tho, everyone is just coughing open mouth on crowded buses like they said and nobody cares about your personal space, in metro everyone is shoving and no one is moving an inch if i want to get off, it is genuinely worse to get to work than to actually work.
“out of school”
i dont live in the us, is that really common? to take your kids out of school early? tbf i somewhat agree with the robot from planet danger
school in the west isnt exactly providing my kids with what i would call essential skills
This is the attitude that leads to americanoids being stupid more so than the actual education itself.
sure, if you don’t value education AND teach your kids bad or stupid things instead…
education is the liberals answer to anything they don’t like because they assume that everyone else is just them but stupider. if everyone else had the same information they did they would agree with them.
edit: for clarity, i DO value education and learning, but the specific nature of the education system in question is surely relevant to mine and my kids relationship with it
